lenox lewis fought for canada in the olympics... and in case you didnt know, detroit is not far from canada..

i dont think he returned to the UK until after he decided to turn pro, even then, he had an american trainer

It's funny cause the USA amateur squad is trained by an IRISHMAN. Because they seem to be behind the times and theyve been terrible in the amateurs for years now!

Enzo Calzaghe knew was he was doing. Calzaghe's style is not the norm in the UK.

He was born in Italy though.

LOL you don't even realise American heavyweights make up about 50% of all heavyweights in the world. USA has far more current heavyweights than any other country. They are just all useless. Quantity but lack quality. Go look at boxrec, You can't make any excuses when you have so many boxers, and you're in the most privileged country of opportunity for boxing.

Stop making awful embarassing excuses that have been debunked time and time again. And just admit a lot more countries are able to turn pro now and the USA just aren't good enough.

yes, lennox lewis moved to canada when he was 12 and then started boxing in ontario lol

he only returned to the UK when he turned pro

in fact, frank bruno had 'Tru Brit" written on his trunks for a reason when he fought lennox

lennox, by boxing standards, is north american

I know he fought for Canada. Lost to Biggs in ‘84, beat Blowe in ‘88. Also understand Detroit is across the border from Ontario, Canada. Still, Lennox was a very good fighter before Manny Steward.

I think Kell’s comment was with the upright 1-2 style that’s prevalent in Europe. Ironically, the 1-2 is what Steward emphasized with Lennox, and later, Wlad.

fine, i concede to your point. we are talking about boxing training methods, so bringing up the fact that america's best athletes dont box but play basketball is irrelevant

This. Given the size of the population, we might just be right behind Mexico for fielding the most top boxers on a pop4pop basis.

It wasn't Kell's training that got him ktfo, he just has a cracked chin.

As for boxing "skills", who was Joe Calzaghe?

Many things in the UK are behind the times compared to the US.

if his performance is any indication, then yeah, your trainers suck. feinting a jab then launching yourself face first, chin in the air, to throw your right, is not what any good trainer teaches. then getting caught by a punch the guy has repeatedly been throwing and hitting you with, again, not good training. so yeah.

Chin in the air nowhere is tought.
Doesn't looks that US training now works well for HW or CW . All I had read up in forums is only excuse: CW doesn't have money and division is weak ( of course, there major criteria is champ must be from our country otherwise division is weak ).
If money is main reason, to box professionally should only large HW dudes. Others must pick another career cos too small.
