I think he went big after the GGG fight and fought with Spence. Hell of a fight. Great pay day. He landed more punches on Spence than seen before, but his eye messed up again. I think theyre trying to get a smooth transition fight this time back.

Khan been ducking him for like ten years man. I like Khan but I'll always discredit him for that.

I think brook just needs a fighter to "get up for" and i don't think guy's like hurd at this point are big enough fights for him to get up for to the point where he will be at his best, Mention the spence rematch at 154 and he lights up, i saw the recent confrontation he had with spence at a recent fight and you could feel the energy and passion between both fighters brook was super fired up, The only fighters that bring that out of him currently are spence and khan, Some fighters have that same intensity for lesser fights when they are still on the come up, having made a lot of money already won a world title etc brook doesn't have the same desire he once had.

Considering spence and jermell charlo are both best friends, i could potentially see two great 154lb fight's there for brook, I still call both those fights 50/50 for him too, it would be an epic story if brook was to beat charlo for the 154lb title then defend it against spence for the rematch. Brook beating charlo would be a massive statment and if spence gose on to beat the likes or thurman, crawford garcia/porter etc in the mean time it would lead to an epic rematch at 154.

If this thread sums up anything it's the career path of the typical armchair boxing fan, not Brook's. Three fights ago he moved up two weight divisions to fight a future ATG middleweight and took his medicine, including a broken eye socket in a honourable defeat. Remember, he was also doing Hearn a favour who had a PPV slot to fill and no MW willing to take on GGG. Brook did.

The next fight he boils DOWN two weight divisions and fights a potential future P4P no1 Spence at welter, looses in a war where he breaks his other eye socket in a even more brutal encounter against a renowned weight bully who wasn't suffering to make 147.

Now after an acceptable come-back fight in third different weight division in three consecutive fights, he's getting called out for what is, in fact, a reasonable step-up after a confidence-boosting stoppage win. Unbelievable.

What do you want? Bellew at CW? Tony would be up for that....

Brook has been mismanaged imo. Great talent but he didnt go to America when he should have. Hearn obviously told him he could deliver the big fights over here and he couldnt, hence why he ended up getting fed to GGG because Hearn couldnt deliver that big name welter. Whilst all this was going on Spence went down the IBF route and became the Mando. Brook had nowhere to go and has paid the price.

You cant go from fighting Jo jo dans and biziers to Elite level, you are just ill prepared. Very poor management of a talented fighter who could have been in plenty of genuine 50/50s.

Completely agree..... I think Hearn feeding him to GGG because he had a PPV date and no opponent (CEJ pulled out last minute as a I recall) was one of the most callous calls by a promoter I can remember, putting his business interests ahead of one of his fighter's career and health. Okay, Brook got well-paid but it was heartless; reckless even. Hearn knew Brook is a warrior and wouldn't back down from a fight he could never win. No wonder Ingle pulled him out, he knew what Brook was up against....

    Damn.
    Maybe you guys are right.
I feel like people didn't want to fight him, no? He took on GGG for the biggest pay day. After the Porter his name got into the mix. After the GGG fight he became much more known. No one expect him to hit GGG that way. Maybe Brook accepted the risk vs rewards.

Either it was a questionable decision.

Didn't Brook ask for the fight?
I don't think it's as black and white as you make it out to be.
But this reminded me of Josesito Lopez getting thrown in with Alvarez.

    Kell been through hell

And don't forget if it wasn't for his super-sized plums stepping up to the plate to face GGG and making him look human, then Jacobs, Clenelo and all those huge 154 pounders who decided it was finally safe to move up wouldn't have stepped up to the plate to face GGG either. It took GGG looking human against Kell for Jacobs to inflate his plums, GGG looking human against both Kell and Jacobs for Clenelo to inflate his, and GGG looking human against all three of them for others to say to themselves OK it's safe to pop our heads out of the water now.

Ring that bell for Super Kell

Not as bad IMO, but good point.

Hasn't that, in the long run, been a huge positive for Lopez?

I'm pretty sure Brook had to be talked into it, at first - understandably. That date was intended for CEJ, who pulled out at the last minute (he never intended to fight GGG, of course), leaving Hearn with a PPV slot and no fight. He's obligated to provide six PPVs per year (think it's six) for Sky and time was ticking - everything was booked apart from a viable opponent. Looking at Hearn's roster of fighters at the time, who did he have at 160llb or could make 160llbs that was a big enough name to sell on PPV? I believe that's how things panned out....

Yeah and at the same time Hearn tried but was failing to bring over Rios i believe.

But it wasnt CEJ who pulled out, his Dad and his Mrs ****ed negoatiantions up big style. They had agreed 99.99% then Eubank snr started making crazy demands.
