Depends on the weight completely. Brook has a bit of life left in him (not at world level but against the likes of Benn) if the weight is right.
Khan made the remnants of Brook look like a Fighter. Kell is shot to bits and a young, energetic and powerful lad like Benn will do him badly.
A lot of people also seem to forget that Benn has been pro for 6 years now, so they can't keep banging on like he's some freshly turned over novice. Yet he won't even go anywhere near his closest domestic rivals and has fought absolutely nobody. But Hearns marketing tool of getting him to beat past it 'names' like Algieri is clearly working on some people and they are starting to believe he is something he is not. Yeah, he has improved since losing to that French journeyman but he's still nothing special, and certainly nowhere near world level. If his name was Conor Smith and not Conor Benn he would never win a British title, let alone be talked about as potential world champion and superstar.
That fight doesn’t last a minute. Benns team want Brook at 149. They know he likely won’t make that weight safely again and then it is winnable. Id honestly rather see Brook fight Eubank if he needs another payday. At least he would be fighting at close to his natural weight
Whilst I know that this isn't the same Brook that beat porter I just can't give an informed opinion on how much Brook really is or isn't shot. We didn't learn anything from the khan fight cos amir was shot to pieces and consequently didn't really put kell In any kind of stress for us to make an assumption. If this is 75% of the peak Brook and the weight is 152 or over then I'm going kell. I just wouldn't want to see Kell go out to Benn tho if he was shot. Only he and his team really know and should it be that he is,then don't fight Benn plz
Kell Brook is a shot fighter. Couldn't put away a one armed Khan. Eddie Hearns is a busted flush in many ways but one thing the big man is still absolutely ELITE at, is sniffing out a shot to pieces old name fighter to feed to his stable. Connor Benn based on the eye test is barely british level but he is young and fit and relentless, should be just enough on a matchroom show to stop a shot old weight drained four round fighter like Brook. Hearns is the master at this type of cherry pick, he rarely gets it wrong. (Shot to pieces old name Alec povetkin icing Whyteleafe the obvious example)
It’s hard to see. I though he was finished before this fight but the way he looked made me think maybe at the right weight he still has a bit to offer. I compared someone who took bombs off GGG get rocked with a jab and assumed he was finished. If he does have another fight, I hope it’s at a weight he can safely make
