Kotelnik, Bradley and Mathysse are/were world class fighters when Devon lost to them. Devon has beaten some good fighters too, like a shut out of Maidana. Brook went life and death with Carson Jones.....that's the best thing he's done. I definitely think it's a case of Brook being massively overrated.
I agree. Those 3 have shown far more about their ability than Brook has thus fat and crucially were able to get to Alexander in ways I feel Brook can't. This is a big, big step up in quality for Brook who really hasn't had a fight yet that was 70/30 in his favour, let alone 50/50.
This is spot on for me. Kotelnik and Matthysse controlled Alexander, Both are good fighters no doubts but lets face it they outboxed Alexander. They didn't just maul and brawl him they boxed with him and beat him. Sadly judges didn't agree... Bradley is a beast but the way he bullied Alexander was to simple there was no sweet science. Even Diaz wasn't happy with Bradley that night he felt he went out of the plan. Brook's got a lot of questions to answer but Alexander's been at world level for what 4 years plus and he's not answered the questions he was asked against guys who aren't exactly great boxers in Kotelnik and Matthysse both are good but not special talents. It's a step up in quality but it's not Bradley or that level it's a step he can take and fight he can win.
Good post, great location. Alexander is definitely the more proven fighter and Brook has continually disappointed me for a while now. Disagree thought, If he can do DA I will sit up and take notice.
Brook is going to get outclassed. Badly. People knock Clev's reign at the moment, but Brook is a **** poor excuse of a champion.
I reckon Devon Alexander will be considered a second favourite in this country and it will be fantastic. Kell Brook went life and death with Carson Jones, a domestic level Welterweight.. I guarantee if Kell was with ****** still you'd say Alexander would starch him in 6. Hearn has mystified you all with his bull****. Alexander TKO10
I struggle, based on Kell's opposition and opponents so far, to see how he beats Alexander clearly enough to get the decision. He'll have his moments, but will come up a little short. He's young though, he can come back and use the experience for the better.
oh boy, this is a tough one, but I think I'll give Brook the benefit of the doubt and say Brook decision, wether he wins that decision or not is another story
Alexander has been holding excessively since the Bradley fight. He spoiled a lot against Matthysse, he ruined the fight with Maidana by holding whenever Maidana got close, and the Bailey fight was one of the worst I've seen in years, largely because Alexander was spoiling all the way through it. It was so bad, he got deducted a point. His mentality has changed since he lost to Bradley. He's now an ugly fighter who holds and spoils at any chance but unless it's correctly punished, it favours him. Look at the Maidana fight - he nullified everything Maidana had to offer by using illegal tactics and he wasn't punished once. That's simply biased.
It's like you've only actually watched the Bailey fight (which Bailey was just as responsible for spoiling btw) and based your entire opinion of Alexander on that. Here's the Mathysse fight. Where's all the excessive holding? There was no more clinging than what you normally see. Again, there was no excessive holding in the Maidana fight either. He just outgunned him with movement.
I'll be fair, the Matthysse bout wasn't too badfor holding (largely because Matthysse wouldn't allow himself to be dictated like that) but are you serious? Alexander spoiled all the way through the Maidana fight. This is a video of the clinching. 119 clinches in a 10 round fight is bull**** and if that doesn't count as excessive, what does? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4If7vEUAnPU[/ame] Alexander's holding spoiled the Bailey and Maidana fights. It was excessive and he should have been docked several points in both fights. The fact he wasn't is because of inept refereeing or bias.
