Well, I suppose if you get enough goes at it you'll finally win a title. Like taking your driving test 4 times where the law of averages states that you will pass. The easiest of the belts available for groves to try for, but can he defend it? Only if hearn goes for the Joshua type defences with old fighters or never was.

You have ZERO proof for that Margarito used plaster in the first Cotto fight. And at that point Margo was already the punching bag of Daniel Santos. You fail. Thanks for playing.

We saw a future great beat an A level, probably the best current WW up until last night, in what was a very even fight going into the 10th, where Spence, showed us another LEVEL, and raised himself into the elite.

Top 10 p4p in my book, and would easily, IMHO, stop Thurman, Peterson, and Manny in ROUTs.

Jermall Charlo was head and shoulders the best of the division, and he's moved N for $$$ and for legacy.

Andrade/Lara would be the best of the rest, and Cotto might still be #3 if matched properly, but guys like Mellow, Smith, Williams, Hurd, JRock, etc.....they're all clearly B level, and would all be mowed down by Spence, and in Algeri-esque fashion.

Now, Lara would represent some challenges for the likes of Brook with his movement, but Brook, not being anything close to lead footed(as is a plodder...see Yellow CanelHOE...see Alfredo Angulo...see cripple Yuri Foreman) and having excellent power in both hands,(unlike Martiroysan who arguably beat Lara X 2), Brook, providing he's not permanently damaged, ie detatched retina, would catch and end Lara.

Andrade, he'd pose more threat than Lara because of his good power, but he doesnt have the beard to beat Brook and his excellent footwork would be nullified by Brooks own.

Cotto...well....at his age, and the wars he's been thru, and considering he's likely to be taken to the brink by journeyman Kamegi, likely would be outboxed and too tentative to take it to Brook.

Mellow would be KOd, as would Hurd and JRock. Chins matter in boxing.

The only other potential fighter better than Brook at LMW, would be Lubin. But we've yet to see him in with an A level like Spence prior to Brook.
So, for now, still a ???? about Lubins level.

    LOL

Basing that soley off his CV and how he dominated Porter, Bzier, Dan, as opposed to how Broner, Thurman, Paulie, Alexander, etc did vs Porter, and how well Thurman handled Garcia.

As for Peterson. He absolutely destroyed Garcia, beating him in Mayweather/Lara-esque fashion thru 5 rds, then when Danny adjusted in 6/7, Lamont beat him like a redheaded step=child from 8-12.

    Worse robbery I ever saw.

But Lamont is hot and cold. I mean he got a gift vs Khan, getting dropped in the 1st, but not called, then getting a pt deduction for Khan pushing his head, when Lamont had his head in Khans chest.

But.....still.....on Lamonts best day, he might beat anyone not named Lucas. So......maybe so. LOLOL

Groves gets schooled by Zurdo Ramirez and demolished by David Benavidez (who isn't a 'world' champion, but I could see him being lined up for a tilt at the vacant WBC Super Middleweight title). The only one I give him even a shot of beating is Degale due to Chunky's lack of output in some rounds, and his propensity to lay back on the ropes, leading to the frustrating tendency to make fights far more difficult than they should be. That said, I think Groves gasses in the final third, leading to Degale nicking an SD.

To answer your question: I can see Hearn and Groves milking that belt with mandatories (Lucian Bute will probably feature at some point if he can get back to 168, maybe even guys like Giovanni Di Carolis, Tyrone Zeuge and Vincent Feigenbutz). Also, Hearn seems to be positioning Callum Smith for a world title shot, and George Groves vs Callum Smith will probably happen at some point, due to it making sense financially (if Groves is still champion by then, that is).

brook tired because Spence relentlessly attacked him and won most rounds. I've reviewed the fight in depth, brook fought a great fight, that was his absolute career greatest performance. problem he was in with a younger, greater and stronger fighter with zero give in him.

brook, imho was the top ww title holder and an off Spence just made brook say mercy in front of 30k fans, in his HOME TOWN.

I never believed brook, or any we, could fight evenly multiple rounds vs Spence and brook held serve for 6, the eye didn't get injured until round 8, took h ell in 9 and 10 then submitted in 11

I've seen this fight a whole bunch, and brook gave way more and was in far better shape than he ever was for ww fight. he was ON, I was nervous through 6, then it became a terrible beating. no more 2 ways, 90% 1 way

Brook hung in there but his left eye was getting into that danger zone the right had before and I don't blame him for taking a knee. He had a chance but missed some big whopers.
Let him ride off in the sunset with some respect. He was in danger after the 9th round.
Pence still needs to be tested by a hard puncher and he seems is easy to hit.
