I think this is a real good crossroads fight for boih of them, a win for Brook gives him great experience and prepares him for one of the champions, a win for Collazo puts him back in the top then and in the mix again, i would probably give the edge to Brook due to Collazo's in-activity, but i wouldnt count him out, 60-40 fight in favour of Brook IMO. I say make it Happen Eddie Hearn, i know you read the forums, and i know your seeing this..... Its a real test!!! :deal
I think you're overrating Collazo a tad, Gaz. He did get absolutely schooled by Shane Mosley. A still old at this point Shane Mosley. Wait, I know...I know...its Shane Mosley and this is Kell Brook. But the thing is, in the fights where he looked good, Ricky Hatton wasn't a welterweight and tried to overpower him which wasn't a good look. Berto throws 3 punches a round in a flashy combination then takes a nap. Which is easy to take advantage of, which Ortiz did to a greater degree than Collazo even.
He's a level below even an old Mosely but so is Brook (and then some!). Collazo is a good pro, I think he'd get a 4-5 point decision off Brook. Anyone who can take Ricky the distance at 147 is a force to be reckoned with.....;O)
Yeah strangely I feel thats making you think Collazo is an unstoppable force I agree he beat Hatton that night, but regardless... I think Collazo is going to struggle more with someone that can box with him. Brook has a good enough jab and a right hand to be in this fight. He's not going to throw 10 punches a round like Berto and allow Collazo to gain confidence. I underrated his power, he hurt N'dou enough to suggest its better than I thought and thats a factor in me thinking he could box with Collazo. Nor is he going to wrestle with Collazo and try and overpower him. Maybe Collazo just struggles with handspeed and people that box him. It's hard to believe Shane beat him 120-108 at his age.
Terrible scorecard. Everyone that scored it for Hatton based it on Compubox. Fact How did you score Alexander/Matthyse mate?
I fell asleep during the ring walk and woke up at 6:30!!atsch Do you remember that "Controversial decisions" thread? I had Hatton beating Collazo by 2 rounds but I knew you'd be nitpicking my card so I gave Collazo one of the close rounds I thought Hatton edged!!! Just to keep you off my back!
I rate Collazo and I watched him school Ricky in the second half of their fight. Collazo is still young enough to give an up and coming pretender like Brook a serious test and I would see him starting as favourite given his level of experience. Brook is good and great to watch but people don't half get carried away with a guy that has done very little at the serious end of the business.
I think having a decent jab and using it is as important as anything against Collazo. It's why Berto and Hatton had such little success against him. Berto's the kind of fighter who has a burst of punches every so often, but his offense is sporadic and predictable because he doesn't harness any kind of jab. Hatton just seemed to think he could steamroll him after the opening round, and just kept jumping in head first with wild swings. From what I've seen of Brook, he leads off his jab well enough, and pumps it out enough to suggest that he'd have more than a decent chance against this version of Collazo.
This content is protected Thats terrible mate. Thats awful. So you gave it Hatton by 3. I really don't like that scorecard. Get Alexander/Matthyse buddy. It was a good fight and we need your esteemed opinion on this matter urgently. It's on tc, I got 1mbps d/l.
No, I gave it to Hatton by 2. The card I posted gave it to Hatton by 1 because 1 of the rounds was a squeaker (the 5th???) and I didn't want to be seen to favour Hatton because I knew you'd be looking out for it.
