Now that DAZN & Matchroom have signed up Garcia, and given that both are coming off recent losses to Errol Spence, do we think this could be a potential 147 match up in the near future?
Garcia is too small for 147. He's particularly too short and doesn't have the speed or athleticism to compensate for his lack of height. He should go back to 140. There are plenty of good fights there. I imagine a fight with Josh Taylor can be arranged. I don't think Kell Brook can make 147 anymore. Even if he could, fighting such a huge guy with no title would be absolutely nonsense for Garcia.
If Brook is 50% of what he was I think he has the beating of Garcia who has no real business at 147. Although whether Brook can make the weight is another matter.
Mikey is far too tiny for 147, I have a hard time seeing him beat anybody in the division that isn't a total scrub. Brook destroys him even now, just far too big and too strong. That being said, Brook ain't coming close to making 147 anymore.
Brook hasn't fought for a year and looked awful against Zerafa, albeit that win looks a little better since he beat Horn. But Brook is close enough to being shot, I'd not be confident of calling him the winner in this fight. Big fan of Kel, as you are... but his career has been a clusterf**k since beating Porter....
I dont agree. Brook handled his own vs GGG. He could do 147, but his eye wont hold up dont matter what wheight class hes in.
Speaking of Mikey. Serge has been revisiting a few things Before Mikey Garcia on Loma vs Rigo ''A lot of time people don't take what I say serious, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rigo pulled it off'' ''Rigo is a badass'' ''It's definitely a good fight that's for sure'' ''I feel Rigo might pull it off'' This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected After Mikey Garcia: ''Lomachenko gets credit for Linares, but not Rigondeaux, Sosa, or Marriaga'' This content is protected Mikey deserves one of Special K's ''chocolate brownies'' right down the pipe for that
Brook is the one UK fighter whose career after picking up a title was pretty well wasted. He could have been so much more.
