Who do you think wins in this match-up of unbeaten Welterweight prospects? Obviously on one hand we have Kell Brook, a physically and athletically gifted fighter with commendable speed, decent power, a capable chin (as far as we know), and good reflexes. He can box finely, and has enough pop with his sharp shots to get most fighters respect. Touted to challenge for a title in the near future. Aydin on the other hand is a hard punching, hard charging fighter who is a bit of a plodder, but holds a guard well at close range, and hits like a mother****er. His punches are sort of half-way between clubbing and sharp, making them very dangerous and effective. He was Andre Berto's mandatory for a long time, but for some reason the fight was never made. Both are somewhat inconsistent, with Brook looking less than emphatic against Jennings, and Aydin looking a bit clueless against Jo Jo Dan. However both have shown their best qualities in recent fights, which include Brook looking sharp as a razor againts Kotey (albeit an afrobum) and Aydin looking like he could smash through walls against Lubachkin (very padded record).Both excell in certain aspects, but both have also shown to be somewhat one-dimensional and flawed. This crashed and burnt... Said before I wouldn't love Brook's chances in this one. This is the sort of fight we're all dying to see him in. He'd be under a bit of pressure, against a good puncher. It would prove a lot about his world class credentials.
Yeah, Brook is in desperate need of a good test. I'd probably say that himself, Aydin and Mike Jones are probably the best prospects in the division, with Kell being arguably the most talented (not definetely), but without a doubt the least proven. Brook vs either of those 2 would tell us a LOT about him on the world frontier.
I don't think Aydin is too great to be honest. I'm not against being economical as a pressure fighter but he's taking it to extremes. He's a little too plodding for my tastes and that leaves you open to getting seriously disturbed by movement and range. He also only punches when his opponent isn't punching, so in a sense he's extremely one dimensional in that he'll only punch you at mid range and only when you're doing little. He's not making it hard to find a blueprint to confound him. Whether Brook can do it I don't know though. Got a feeling Brook's power is not that good and Aydin would walk him down and Brook's 'defence' would unravel.
Completely agree with you on Aydin. The guy is very one dimensional, has shown an inability to adapt mid-fight, and struggles with fighters showing decent movement. The Jo Jo Dan fight highlighted this. However I do think hsi power is very considerable. I genuinely think that an Aydin facebreaker would test the chin of even the toughest Welterweights out there. Those hooks aren't exactly textbook, or timed to perfection, but they are damn ****ing hard! I'm still torn on this one.....:think
I beat him twice I beat him in his last amateur fight he is really easy to frustrate is very strong an can whack tho saying that think kell would be too quick an ring smart
