Kell Brook Withdraws From Devon Alexander Clash

Fight never meant to be I guess. Would have been great to see if Kell could step up but it's not going to happen against Alexander for the IBF title, not now.

Let Devon go and defend his belt against someone else now. See if he can get a few pay days against some other champions or big names.

As for Kell, as heartbreaking as it must be for to have his dream slip through his fingers, it doesn't have to be the end. Rebuild and go another route now. Maybe chase the WBA belt? Malignaggi won't beat Broner and Broner will likely vacate and move back down. Just pick himself up, dust himself off and get on with his career. He still has time to get himself into another title opportunity. One thing he mustn't do is just sulk or chase unrealistic dreams like fighting Khan (at least for the time being).

Like I said, he still has youth on his side. He can get himself another title shot if he's willing to put the work in.

Not entirely certain Khan is that unrealistic.

I doubt his next fight is in sheffield for a laugh.

Kell vs Khan sky ppv, it will happen eventually, Eddie isn't a ****wit, he's seen Floyd/Pac die, Fury/Price wait too long. The only thing Kell needs to be realistic on is his cut.

I dont see why kell cant just fight another top5 ranked fighter in the ibf rankings.. To secure his mandotory spot.

 

According to ukwingchunstudent he says he has a source that says Kell could probably still have fought but his team wouldn't let him because it was too risky that the injury would play up and cost him the fight. He says Kell is pretty annoyed/upset about it as he still wanted to do it.

No idea if this is true or who this source is admittedly (or if he's even real to be honest). Just thought I'd mention it though cause it's interesting. If it is true then what happens from here with Brook? He's not happy at all by the sounds of it.

Carson Jones seemed to shake him up in a big way too,Kell genuinly looked intimidated by him at the face off whilst Jones and his trainer watched his reaction and giggled behind Eddie Hearns back.I think Brook is a nervey character but I doubt he's turned his back on the fight,I think he's been over doing it in the gym and probably being putting too much pressure on the previous injury.

guess this means brooks next fight will be against some unknowner with a hyped up record to make him look good ,waste of oppertunity even if he'd lost.

 

Is this Kell Brook with a broken toe? The same injury Haye got massive stick for fighting against Klitschko with?

Brook hasn't promised to leave anyone in a heap and spent years building up to this fight with trash talking. Haye only had himself to blame for the reaction, He put himself up there to be shot at. I don't think Haye's actual display is that bad and i actually understand the injury can be painful. A fractured metatarsal we've seen affect footballers performances. Brook's team have done the right IMO he need his footwork to be at it's best on this night.

Should of kept his mouth shut and waited for people to mention the damage to toe area if they saw it when he had flip flops on.

 

From the start though the worrying thing about this fight was the economics. On paper this is a close fight between two good fighters. But Alexander is a no mark in terms of bringing fans through the gates, and there's no doubt this fight would've been bigger if it was held in the UK. There wouldn't have been the need for the kind of double header that this was due to be part of alongside Peterson-Matthyse if this had been over here. But Alexander is the champ so calls the shots.

When you get good fighters in a proposed fight that doesn't have the profile to give either side the kind of payday they might expect from such a tough match-up then unexpected things tend to crop up.

 

It is unrealistic now. Khan will definitely not fight, Kell, as he brings nothing to the table. Khan even mentioned that he was possibly looking to face the winner of that fight when he decides to move up to WW.

I just can’t see, Kell, doing much at WW.
