I was in Bowe's camp years ago w/ Eddie Futch. I really miss Eddie Futch, he was a great trainer and a wonderful person.
There was a couple of corrections. The one already mentioned about Tunney being the other Heavyweight champ to beat every man he faced, when Lampley implied that Lennox had been the only one. Turns out Riddick Bowe is in that same company! Then Lampley said that Juan Diaz was folding down the stretch like an accordion, to which Kellerman took a stand that he did'nt agree that Diaz was folding to that degree, that he was still trying and fighting like a Warrior and throwing punches....... .....Lampley had to rectify his stance by admitting he was over emphasizing it for effect!
Lamps was pretty annoying how he kept harping on the judges, like he was prepping people to be outraged by the scores.
Kellerman is a muppet. He has erotic feelings about anyone who fits these character traits. 1. Black and has little education. 2. Talks a load of ****. 3. Fights in a slick style. 4. Repeatedly says "Mother****er". He must hate David Haye with a vengence.
Riddick Bowe did NOT beat every guy he faced, because he had that NC4 against Mathis Jr. I'm sure a technicality like that will **** some people off, but it does count and Bowe is extremely lucky it wasn't a DQ loss. However, Lampley was very lax in forgetting about Tunney and, for once, Max was totally right in correcting him.
I liked it how Kellerman sticked it in Lamleys face. He should do it more often (and so should Steward). In fact Lampley again showed very much biased for Maskaev (calling him a fighter who lives and trains in America and so is more American than ever moments before Maskaev was called 'representing Russia' and often loudly presenting punches to the side of the head as punches behind the head (i think there was like one clear punch behind the head where Lampley called like 5 of them), then again applauding Lennox Lewis career. Hasn't this been done often enough already?). I want to see Kellerman, Merchant, Steward as a team sometime. Leave Lampley at home
Steward was sure hyping up Peter all night, he obviously really sees that as an easy fight for Wlad so is building him up. Its funny because i remember in the past when he said, "Ive no respect at all for samuel Peter".
Really cheap shot by Pretty Boy Lampley saying Diaz was folding like an accordion, when the guy is in heck of a fight, eye badly cut, eye badly swollen. Glad that Kellerman stood up to Lampley and corrected him on his cheap shot remark. And I can't stand Kellerman, but in this case he was right.
This is true. I noticed at the end of the show Steward was even taking credit for Peter's improving to a point. He said atleast 2-3 times that he had spent time with Peter and helped him with this or that.
Turns out Tunney has a NC against a guy he didn't rematch, too. God bless Boxrec, but it's true... The Boxrec note on the Tunney NC is classic: "Referee O'Brien stopped the fight becuase neither man was trying (Chicago Tribune)."
