Kellerman: Lot of good 140 & 147 fighters, but Crawford & Spence seem special.

The thing about boxing these days is that we talk about "prospects" like they are kids....Crawford is 28 and going on 29. In 18 months he'll be on the wrong side of 30.

We can talk all we want about new training techniques and nutrition but 30 is 30 no matter how you wanna cut it. Leonard and hearns were engaging in a super fight with an average age of 24yrs! Prime young men fighting for a championship with proven records!

Errol spence just turned 26 last month. Would love to see him take on Kell Brook (if the man from the Isle of Glass has the stones for it) and then challenge Garcia followed by Thurman. He can become the MAN in boxing.

Crawford needs to step it the **** up and do it fast. Take out Postol and make a move for Vargas.

took 17 posts before thurman even got a mention, my oh my how his stock has fallen just lately.

IF (and this is a big if) the top guys start fighting each other, these divisions could be really fascinating over the next few years - there are some awesome looking prospects at 135 too who may end up in the mix (i REALLY like the look of easter jr.). and there's always, uh, mikey garcia.........

Crawford & Spence need to prove a lot more to be considered special.

Brook & Bradley has proven a lot more than either of guys. In Bradley's case, he proved more than both guys combined.

Crawford need to take on Postol and Spence need to step up a bit more.

^i think people overstate how much brook has proven, his resumé is hardly bursting with great wins. even the porter win, while good, seems to be viewed through rose-tinted glasses as some kind of boxing masterclass by some people.

Problem is kellerman probably has not even seen kell fight apart from vs Porter.

Annoying as kell has the skills to be in very good fights with any welterweight.

Yeah his resume is not the greatest but he has the skills.

Stateside people just don't know it yet

Agree totally coltaine, Brook desperately needs to fight a live body. Holding a world title hostage on that island. Porter win was solid, but for christsake he needs to fight somebody.

If Mr. Mandatory ducks his mandatory it must be for Garcia, Thurman, or Cotto.

Kellerman wasn't forgetting anyone, he was remarking on contenders at 147. Not WORLD CHAMPIONS!

I don't see any fighters at 140 or 147 at this time that I would consider special. There us huge potential for some of them to emerge as special fighters but not now. That's the problem with Kellerman and Lampley. They always over exaggerate fighters and fights because they have a circus mentality. They are a bane to boxing.

Spence may be special. He is still unproven though, in that he hasn't faced an opponent who can punch back yet.

    Crawford is good. Not special.
