I never liked Kellerman's commentary. I often felt that Max was trying to fit his commentary around his preconceived "story of the fight" rather than letting the fight tell its own story and reflect that through his own words.

Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant could be biased, especially Larry. But hell, we can all be biased at times. George Foreman and Roy Jones could be biased, too. But the vast majority of what they said at least correlated with reality most of the time. I always felt that Emanuel Steward was especially honest with his commentary and analysis as well.

Apparently, I disagree with the majority. I was, and am, a Kellerman fan. He is well-spoken, knowledgeable and often made cogent points during a fight that other announcers wouldn't have even thought to say.

My only issue with him is his post-fight interviews. He would ask detailed, nuanced questions to guys with limited English skills such as Manny Pacquiao and Gennady Golovkin. They would give answers that were often only tangentially related to his question. It could be painful to watch.

I really don't understand the Kellerman hate. He has a bias towards slick boxing type but other than that he does a lot better than the majority of commentators. I'll take Kellerman over sky or showtime any day of the week.

Max with his shrill voice was the reason I got into boxing. I mean everbody keeps disrespecting him but I mean his passion for boxing can't be overlooked. He gets a lot of hate but he has every boxing fans dream job! How can you not get excited for boxing when max passionately talks about it?

I always sort of felt that way with Teddy Atlas's commentary. Like if the fight doesnt play out to his Teddy's tips or the judges see it differently than him he became an annoying blowhard. I think Max did a lot of commentary with Atlas and that habit may have rubbed off

i didnt hate max but like lampley it felt like he was too much of a company man at times, Larry could at least buck the boat and call out the house fighter

I also get annoyed by commentators who overuse buzz words like pound for pound, and lineal, and undisputed and I think Max was one of those

Never liked Kellerman. Extremely biased commentator who openly dislikes EE fighters.

I'm not a fan of his, and I get why he can annoy people, he kinda tries too hard, but still, he gets too much hate imo.

He's levels above a lot or most of what we have today and was leagues better than Larry merchant or george foreman.

Yeah, that was highly unfortunate for boxing fans. Hopefully this incompetent nepo-baby doesn't get a new gig.
