Kellerman hands down. He doesn't have an agenda like Merchant.

I watched a DVD of Leonard-Seldon a few weeks back and it was weird that Larry looked old even then.
I haven't seen Kellerman or Pacquaio offering to fight Floyd...

 

atsch Oh dear. Jim ****in' Watt. I guess Duke McKenzie is an insightful commentator considering he's a former world champion. How about George Foreman and Lennox Lewis? Yup, all fantastic commentators.

 

Both are horrible, but Kellerman is the much better of the two. Merchant has always been a biased reporter of the HBO bunch and has no technical knowledge of the sport; his poetic rants are unamusing. My biggest peave is that he adds no technical knowledge to his rants. Kellerman used to only favor defensive fighters and was horrible at picking fights, but since he's wised up and so far has been the closest to a voice of reason on the HBO cast.

 

For a specific fight or in general?

Merchant is a legend and has some oneliners but he is old and normally he takes too long to get his sentences out.

Max is younger and speaks like a young man. Contradictory sometimes. but he does speak more fluently then others and seems to want Lamps to stfu sometimes as Jim tends to talk instead of speak on the action. Like when Cotto got cracked by Margo Lamps was all talking about something and Max was like "uh Cottos hurt guys". Cottto went down soon after.

 

Still butthurt about me picking Kellerman as the lesser of two evils over Merchant, hmm?

Yes, Jim Watt is a better commentator than any of the Americans except the Showtime guys. Not just because he has championship pro experience - although that certainly informs his perspective.

He's a sharp guy who knows the game well and can call it well (moreso than any of the others you mentioned, so obviously high level firsthand experience in the ring is only part of the formula). His scorecards also match mine about 90% of the time, and far more often than any TV pundit on this side of the Atlantic.

Oh, I guess it's hip to make fun of him because of the thick Scottish accent and the fact that he sometimes goes on about "levels" and "arrrrrum punches" though, huh? Yeah. You're a winner.

Watt, like me, ought best just stick to golf like good little Scots - is that it?
