Well I've been sittin' here tryin' to think of a way to argue with you (cause I think it would be fun...), but to put your statement another way is "Pavlik will probably be ridiculed by ESB if he doesn't bomb Lopez within 4". Know what I mean? We don't REALLY know where Pavlik is at right now....and an undefeated fighter with a high KO ratio CAN be dangerous man....surely you know that. Hell, considering the circumstances, it would almost be understandable if KP fought some journeyman for this fight, because once again we really don't know exactly where he is right now. Like Boo said, (not sure of how many of ya'll just disagree with him cause of "like" issues) this is a tune-up before a REAL tune-up. KP hasn't shown his real potential since like 2008 (people who watch him close prolly know what I mean). This is a good fight to get the train rockin' back down the right tracks. I would guess we'll see a couple rounds, try **** they been worked on etc.., then KP by KO around 5-7 somewhere.:good
I've been saying for a while now to expect Kelly to some rounds in if he feels comfortable. Isn't that really what this fight is for? It doesn't do him a lot of good if the guy does like AA's tune up partner and take an early exit.
Ecxiting ****. If people can't understand Pavlik fans being a little excited for what appears to be the start of a good thing for KP (and in the same time for boxing, because adding KP to whatever division instantly makes it that much more exciting/interesting/deep/however one prefers to put it), I don't know what to say to that. Come on KP!! Show these got damned *******s one more time!!:hey:yepp
If Kelly returns to form, he blows this kid out inside of six rounds. Count me in the minority here, but I think Pavlik has enough gas left in the tank of his career to make some noise at 168lbs or potentially even 175lbs.
There is very little video of Lopez available, but there is probably enough information to take a quick look at certain things. It seems like he throws mostly straight punches, and he's fairly accurate against the journeyman and no-hopers he fought up to this point. He hits hard. His resume' has more padding than a junior high school girl's training bra, but the kid has 16 KO's in 21 fights for a 76% KO ratio, and a bunch of those KO's came inside 3 rounds. He's probably not a monster puncher, but I'm quite sure he has respectable power. He's a really big super middleweight. The vast majority of his fights came at light heavyweight or above. He's 6 foot tall with 75 inches of reach. He is sparring with Felix Cora. They did 8 rounds yesterday. His hands are slow. Pavlik has fought at least 20 guys with faster hands. He's a bit of a one-handed fighter. His left-hand is not, or at least does not appear to be, a dangerous weapon. He looks to be very open to left hooks. We have absolutely no idea how good his chin is. That's all I can think of at the moment.
Thanks for the insight on Lopez.:good We just saw Ortiz beat Berto, because he had something to prove. Kelly's in the same boat. If he can show 1/2 the determination & aggressiveness that Ortiz displayed, I'll be a happy camper. This content is protected (Sorry for the caps):!:
I dont nothing about Alfonso Lopez. Looking at his resume,i cant see not 1 name i can recognize And judging from this vid right here v [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsahHy5_YU4"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsahHy5_YU4[/ame] I dont see anything there that Pavlik shouldent be able to overcome. Pavlik will knock Lopez out. If Kelly loses to this kid i would recommend he retires.
Damned. Throws a lot of arm punches without much rotation. Either he has some pop or his opponents have no resistance. Probably the latter from the looks of it.
Pavlik is in a must-win situation here. And given Lopez's lack of serious previous competition, Pav should be able to handle him, if he can deal with being at the higher weight. Pav by stoppage inside 6.
He may just want to get some rounds in against a live opponent. Don't read anything into it if the bout goes longer. I'd say if he is comfortable and doesn't feel threatened, just beat up on the kid for 6 and try to end it sometime in the last two.
While this may not be a bad idea for Pav, his style goes against it. If he hurts Lopez, I think his finishing instincts will take over. Besides, while I haven't seen Lopez fight, he appears to have power. And Pavlik might not want to risk carrying a guy who could turn things around with a big punch.
Pavlik must win this. (I'll admit those vid's posted are as much footage as I have seen of this Lopez kid.) Kelly has no choice but to go out there & completely attempt to blitzkrieg this guy. Lopez on the other hand can afford a blemish against a former champion & chop it up to experience. In the END tho, May the best man win.
