Some of you will write pavlik off as one dimensional, say he was exposed by hopkins while others say he is the savior of american boxing, a real ko artist from the streets of a tough city who brings excitement to the sport. Was he 2008's boxing hero or bust?

Dont know, but hes certainly Hopkins *****.

If Pavlik goes on to lose to Abraham, Williams and some other fighter where he is a big favorite, Pavlik will be remembered as a one hit wonder.

Even though, he had a mishap, I still think he is an interesting story. A lot of people have said, including media, boxing experts, doctors, Pavlik was in no shape to fight that nite. His people said it was his choice to go on with the fight. Dumb move. But, the kid is still the middleweight champ of the world. 2009 could be a good year for him to redeem himself. The loss is a growing tool for him. He will learn from this, hopefully, and move on.

    Somewhere in between.

He is one dimensional but it is good, he is a world class fighter that got beat by an ATG having his best night in years.

If he can get through this he will be a good fighter for years to come, plus he is exciting and seems to be a good guy.

He started out '08 with a great 2nd win over JT. From there things went sour fast. However, very few people will write Kelly off for a loss to that verson of BHop. Hell, I predicted back in '07 that Kelly would lose his zero to a slick boxer at LHW. No way in hell did I think it would be Hopkins in '08, but in a general way I was right.

KP is a freak at 160. Nobody in the division right now beats him.

The only threat to him right now is Abraham.

Miranda was a overhyped nobody, 5 years from now the Miranda win will be absolutely worthless. Pavlik still has the bragging rights of being JT's conqueror the only proven fighter that he has beaten to date. If its downhill from now on for Kelly then he is certainly a one hit wonder.

Well its all a matter of perspective, back in 06-07 Miranda was being hailed as the next knockout superstar of the division.. now its like hes nothing and was nothing. He got that way because the 2 best guys in the division beat him (pavlik and abraham), hes still a quality win for both guys imo

He cant be a one hit wonder because he proved over 19 rounds that he is better than Taylor, he didnt just knock him out, he beat him. Miranda win is very good. Miranda did beat Allen Green, Eastman and Abraham in Germany.

    Boxing bust ????

Don't judge the guy too quickly. He went up in weight and lost once . . . now let's see how the guy's gonna perform again in his real weight class . . . too early to pass judgement.

. . . but win or lose I'll still admire the guy. You can't win them all!

Why is he being written off? Because of his loss to BHop? This thread is ******ed, the guy should never have been allowed to fight that night

Kelly had a great run from October 2005 to May 2008.

    Zuniga TKO9
    McKart KO6
    Pierre KO4
    Zerthuche KO8
    Miranda KO7
    Taylor KO7
    Taylor UD12
    Lockett KO3

Eight fights with 7 ending in KO's. I don't rate Pierre or Lockett, but the rest range from solid wins to really good wins.

This year has the potential to be another really good run. If he fights the winner of Williams/Wright (Winky,) coaxes Sturm out of his cave, and then runs over Abraham, the Hopkins loss will fade to a distant memory. He'll end 2009 as the undisputed middleweight champion, and the legitimate ruler of boxings second most prestigious division.
