Kelly Pavlik Can Handle Hopkins, But Can Jack Loew?

No -- Top Rank never turned down a Winky fight. Winky turned down $1.5 million and percentage of the ppv revenues. That's about the 4th or 5th time Wright has found a reason not to fight Pavlik.

 

Winky turned down top rank and $1.5 million. Winky didn't look good agains Bhop. I just watched the fight for the first time and was surprised to see him lunging. Pavlik is MUCH more patient and disciplined.

 

I see we jumped this one about the same time.

Winky hasn't fought in over a year and has exactly 3 fights at MW and is practically demanding a title shot. Low ball? Give me a break. HBO put up some money and Arum decided Pavlik wouldn't take a pay cut from what he made in the Lockett fight. So he was slated to make $2.5 I think. So how much more do you think Winky should have been given? Pavlik has the belts Winky wants. Remember, this didn't include a cut of PPV.

 

I don't think Jack Loew is a good trainer. I think he is an A grade road paver, I'm not disputing that before Pavlik fans lose their hair but he's not much of a multi-tasker. Stick to paving drives IMO and focus your energies. It's better to have one defined skill rather than a jack of all trades master of none.

Not all can be like Enzo Calzaghe, who is almost at the Beethoven level musically whilst training the best fighter in the world and numerous other world champions.

One can not make a silk purse from a sows ear. It is bordering on a miracle these guys were even world champions, Calzaghe aside. If they were under the "tutelage" of Jack Loew they would all be bankrupt and they would be his labourers.

Winky brings nothing to the table but a record of 1-1-1 in his last 3 outings, and reputation, deserved or not, for boring fights. Right after Pavlik won the titles Arum told Winky exactly what to do to get a shot. Go beat up Sturm, and come back with something Kelly wants. winky ignored that the same way he ignored Team Pavlik when they called him out 3 or 4 times when KP was on his way up.

Furthermore; Winky has been so inactive that he is not even a ranked fighter anymore. Pavlik is fighting the man who beat Winky by a clear UD in Winky's last fight, and fighting him at the same weight. But ya, I guess KP is ducking winky! That makes senseatsch

 

You really think Gavin Rees or Enzo Maccarinelli are silk purses? These are E and C level under any normal trainer.

I recently got a copy of the Bhop/Winky fight and was appalled with the way Winky would wing and lunge! Pavlik is certainly fighting the more disciplined of the two.:deal
