was a favorite of mine for a long time. He really went on a ****ing tear from the McKart fight through the first Taylor fight. His ability to close distance and.finish his man was awesome to watch.. I will miss him...

I've always wanted to see a heartfelt return to the ring. Sadly it wasn't in the cards. Good luck Kelly.. live your life.

 

Did you see the story I linked to where he asked Jack Loew to be at his side when he announced his retirement? People assumed drinking was his demon but it may have been boxing had become his demon and drinking was the manifestation.

 

Great champion? I doubt it.

He was ***** to annouce his retirement at age 30. Hope that he would not become an alcoholic again in the future.

BTW, both Taylor and Pavlik were temporary World Champions at 160, and both of them ended up their career almost exactly the same way.

 

He is only 30.

Far far far too early to stop. He was no fake fighter like Lacy. Pavlik was (is) a very good fighter whose top level is between the top 3-4 at 168 and the next (to give an example). In other words about the level of Taylor (I know h beat Taylor, but prime for prime they are about the same imo.), Abraham, ... perhaps Bute (but lets wait to see what happens in Froch-Bute !! because I think Bute will do much beter at home) - and better than fighters like Green, Miranda, Stieglitz etc.

So after Ward, Calzaghe.. and Kessler, Froch... I would have Pavlik (and som othrs n the next level).

I think he should keep fighting. Far too young to quit. I know the level of competition has increased a lot from the days with Taylor and noone else at 160... but Pavlik can still be in many good fights.
