No ****, he's in trouble stylistically against most top SMWs.. and what? Anthony Dirrell knocking him out? I don't know, thats a bit of a stretch. I could see Anthony beating him though... but I'd be more comfortable picking Andre Dirrell over him than Anthony. It'd be a good fight though, for sure.
I was there in AC when he fought Sergio. He still had weight to lose just prior to the weigh-in. He rehydrated in excess of 20lbs in 24 hours. Kelly easily walks around at 185/ 190. Funny story: After the fight, Kelly was downstairs in the casino and went to take a ****. He standing in the stall and the guy next to him says, Holy ****, what happened to you? Kelly responded, I fell off my bike. Typical Kelly.
We both know that Kelly Pavlik would put me in the hospital ... I'm not a seasoned, trained, prize fighter. But from the outside lookin in ... I'm highly critical of him, he didn't improve ... they said he could box, he never boxed ... all he had going for him was his chin, strength, and conditioning ... He needs to mess with Adam Booth not Robert Garcia.
I think Robert is a perfect choice, Pavlik is 29, he's not mysteriously going to turn out a boxer, Robert will not transform him, he will work on his strengths and probably some of his weaknesses. There is no transforming Kelly at this point, there is getting him in the best shape possible and having him mix it up with the best possible fighters, it makes for nice fights.. which is what boxing is about.
Pavlik has always been in good shape ... I know Pavlik would get some good sparring ... I think that technically Adam Booth is one of the best trainers in the biz !! I'm sure Pavlik is going for the boxing culture more than the coach.

People that aren't really watching underestimate his defensive abilities. He picks off more than is casually apparent and he'll take shots that he knows won't hurt him to get into range.

for anyone who has followed pavlik's career, this is pretty crazy to see him in California with a trainer not jack loew. i'm not talking about whether its a good thing or not, mind you. just saying its pretty crazy. will be even crazier to see garcia in the corner with him during a fight.
