Don't know what you mean by "head screwed on straight".......the only Dirrel there is is the one who potshots then runs from a fight. Pavlik walks through potshots and cuts the ring off as well as anyone. A healthy Pavlik with HIS head screwed on straight walks down Dre and stops him inside 5.:deal
Tony is another stroy though as he is constantly improving and has tons of heart, a solid beard and deceptive power. If I'm KP, I seek and destroy Dre and leave Tony to the slicker fighters out there.:think
Kel looks hungry.. after the beating he took from Nard, Kelly was mentally a different fighter... But he can still make another title run if his mind is right. I wish him all the best.... He's a very solid fighter and could be a hall of famers if he can get back to the form we saw before losing to BHOP.
What the **** does an avatar containing pics of a racist mutha ****a and an overated overprotected cokehead have to do with my views on a drunken redneck ?
You can tell the fire is back, he was a victim of his success and didn't know how to deal with the money and the fame and thats when boxing took a back seat. I think he's doing a good thing by not taking on the Bute fight, what people forget about Pavlik before he beat Taylor is that he was built up slowly to get to that level. It wasn't until his 30th fight that he really got his name out there by beating Miranda, before then the only real "name" on his record was Grady Brewer. When Pavlik took on Jermaine Taylor his confidence was sky high following wins over Miranda and McKart, it was almost (too high) and Taylor had him on ***** street for one round. Since that victory he's been in with consistently good opposition, he beat Rubio for instance as a comeback fight and dominated, and look at Rubio now with his newly raised status raised after his fine stoppage victory over David Lamieux. If Pavlik can do what he's doing now, and build himself and his confidence back then you will see an even better Pavlik, but give it 2-3 fights or even as long as a year, because there's no shame in facing a few C-grade fighters to start getting that timing back, and when Pavlik is ready and without those distractions that hindered him, then I think he'll become a real force to be reckoned with. He's 29, he's got a good 6 years left in him at the top of the game.
He looks sharp on the pads, but I'm reserving judgement on Pavlik until we see him tested in the ring. The Hopkins demons could quickly come back when he's pushed a bit harder than throwing a few shots for the cameras.
