Lovely stuff from BHop! Pavliks pressure was wholly ineffective as his footspeed/handspeed were inferior. Precisely the reason Calzaghe gave Hopkins so much trouble last time out.

Nice, did you get to speak with him?

I agree that Pavlik will probably lead on most of the scorecards, although Abraham is pretty fast both with hands and feet, more so than often given credit for... and we saw how much trouble Hopkins gave him with educated movement. Abraham is very hard to hit clean, while Pavlik is not. I'm not too sure about Kelly's chin, either: Taylor had him hurt badly and nearly out, Hopkins (not a big hitter) staggered him three times, though Miranda couldn't make much impact. But Abraham has never even been wobbled. I think he lands a big haymaker sooner or later with effect. Great fight either way, one of the best that can be made at this moment.

Well, yeah but not much, he overtook me once when I did my roadwork and we spoke a little but his tempo was a bit higher than mine so we didn´t talk much. He´s a nice guy but also very intimidating, even when he just jogs beside you talking a bit he´s intimidating. He has that aura surrounding him. Very very confident. And he really has the desire to be the best, you could hear it when he talks about his future, not only in his words but also in what he doesn´t say. I had the feeling he would prefer shutting Sturm up above fighting Pavlik though.

Yep, the difference would be defence and chin. Both are sluggers but Abraham has a very good defence with his turtle shell defence, footwork and upperbody movement and he has a top notch chin. Pavlik has none of this, his defense is his offense and his biggest asset is his workrate while Abraham´s biggest weakness is his lazyness. Abraham also has nice short straight rights in his arsenal and if anything one of those ends the fight similar to his second fight with Miranda.

Was it really necessary to bump this?

    I would say...:D

I think what Pavlik does, going forward, will determine just how significant this fight is in terms of B-Hop's legacy, but it was a hell of a performance against a guy that was being hailed by many as a potential ATG.

I actually thought that Abraham might be too much for Pavlik after witnessing a couple of fights not including the one from last night. I thought that Gary Lockett fought a fight similar to one in which Abraham would employ against Pavlik. Lockett was able to land on Pavlik fairly well. Lockett is not in Abraham's league, especially not with power. After seeing the effect Abraham's power had on Miranda, and the frequency in which Lockett landed on Pavlik, Abraham's chances look more than favorable.

Some people may wonder how I'd get an idea like this after the way Pavlik beat Lockett down. I'll just say the last time a beat down influenced by pick for a fight was when Diego Corrales stopped Angel Manfredy. Manfredy's bashing allowed me to get a glimpse of how I thought Corrales would match-up with Floyd Mayweather Jr. It was because of that fight that I picked Mayweather over Diego with almost no hesitation. Manfreddy seemed to be able to hit Corrales rather easily, his punches just seemed to have no effect. I knew Mayweather's shots would matter more.
