Vergilius thinks that K.P. should put off fighting until he's ok which it seems he isn't now. Vergilius also thinks it would be cool for the rest of this thread to be done in the 3rd person as a kind of homage.

i'm hoping he gets the bute fight. he'd be about +250 because of all the delusional redneck mid-westerners that would still bet on him.

i dont think kp beats anyone from here on out. hes still drunk and will only fight for the money.

He has his reasons.... can't really understand how they could be seen as good reasons, but it's his life. Hopefully he doesn't need the money.

Hard to believe I felt sorry for this guy's dying career just three days ago.

Yeah this made absolutely no sense. Kessler (the champion emeritus) is already ahead of him in having first crack at whoever has the WBC at the end of the Super Six. Additionally, whoever does win Ward-Froch might also prefer to fight Bute in Montreal than fulfill their mandatory obligation; I'm not sure what lucrative fight would really be available for Pavlik at that point. Finally, Pavlik is unlikely to maintain his WBC ranking if he cuts off his relationship with Top Rank and goes inactive for another year.

you have to read the full article on the scene to understand why he pulled out of this fight...i by no means am a pavlik fan but only 50,000 for this saturdays fight? ouch (compared to what he is used to getting)

His popularity has gone down. He's not fighting on a PPV card and he's not headlining an HBO WCB card. He's basically headlinging a Shobox card. Showtime doesn't dole out much money for that sort of card. Supposedly there were only 1,000 or so tickets sold as well. I don't think Pavlik understands the economics of the sport. Not one member of his team agrees with his decision.

Showtime was allocating its entire SHOBOX budget to Pavlik for the Cunningham fight which happens to be $50 000. TOP RANK accepted to completely finance the opponent and the rest of the card.

Some of you guys must understand how much and where the money comes from before making statements out of the blue.

Pavlik was facing Cunningham on his request and everyone worked to get it done even if it was obvious that finances would be in red ink after that card, since it wasn't selling...

:thumbsup I don't blame him for turning down that fight. He should get paid more. Top rank mainly arum is a greedy *******. Donaire-montiel was one of the biggest fight at the lower weight class and donaire only got paid 300K.

You got andre berto fighting a nobody and he got paid 1 million plus. So i don't blame pavlik for pulling out of this fight.

Andre Berto got paid 1 million because HBO guaranteed that money, not the gate or anything else.

SHOWTIME had $50 000 guaranteed for this weekend's Cunningham bout and TOP RANK accepted to lose money with that card in order to set up the Bute one.

Money doesn't fall off of trees.... You have to understand where revenues come from before just making random claims...
