**** I'd still like to see Pavlik vs Bute. I wanna see what excuses the Pav lickers will come up with when Lucian leaves the Ghost looking up at the lights.

Wait a minute, did you first say that you thought Martinez beat Williams? :?

Had to get away from the computer for a few hours, now I will actually comment on the post(s).

Boo, like I said earlier welcome back. I know you don't care but your post is a little disappointing. It's easy to see why some fans get annoyed with Pav fans on this site, but I was ok with it because you guys were loyal to the core, which I imagine to be a fighters dream. There was a ridiculous poll that asked what you would do when you came back, I didn't participate but I figured you would come back still back your guy, legitimately congratulate Martinez, and look forward to a rematch.

Instead, we have the exact opposite. This is not Pav's worst performance. In fact given the clash of styles(I know you denounced it, but I think you're wrong, more on that later), he did a good job ad******g to Sergio's pattern in the mid rounds until Sergio changed his pattern. Sergio is getting a little overhyped by some now, yes, but I thought you'd at least change your assessment on him when you said he wasn't the second hardest challenge...and implied he may not even be third. I thought going in JT was the only person who had an argument but I still thought Martinez was slightly ahead before the fight. Instead, your opinion hasn't changed(which is ok), but it's hard to see you start out saying "I'll try not to take away from Sergio's win..." but then say in another thread Jeff Lacy(of Now!!!) would beat Pavlik on Saturday is a seriously huge discredit to Sergio.

You said styles makes fights is overrated and we'll have to disagree. I think that adage is what makes boxing especially when high caliber fighters meet. Even the examples you used kind of confirmed it, when you brought up trading punches with Miranda...well...Martinez isn't Miranda for one, and he's not looking to trade. It's like what I said in another thread a couple weeks before the fight...prior to the fight to that point Pavlik has had trouble with movers, why? Because he has only fought one. It was something that could have been dispelled to a degree against Martinez(even though it's a different style of moving). Unfortunately for Pavlik, these concerns were confirmed even more to a degree. Does that mean he'll lose to every "mover" out there? No. But it is a weakness that has existed that was THE major factor in the fight and it's something that needs to be worked on.

And finally, I don't know if I agree with the perception that Pavlik doesn't look like the fighter from years ago. This backs up the styles makes fights argument, Dirrell didn't make Froch look like the Froch against Pascal or Taylor. Dirrell didn't make Abraham look like Abraham against Taylor or Miranda...movement can do that to certain fighters

    Just my 2 cents.

BOOOOOOOO welcome back buddy, ESB has not been the same without you! HAHAHA! At least Kelly lost like a dignified man, AA took a cheap shot at a man on the mat, I lost some respect for Arthur, still admire him but his persona he was expressing to the boxing world did not match that incident. I still think Kelly Pavlik MIGHT figure out Sergio Martinez in a rematch and MIGHT pull it out resulting in a trilogy. Another thing some fans here at ESB have posted is how he still is a relevant force in the MW division(weak as it is). It is not all lost maybe momentarily.

:deal Pavlik is too much of a nice guy to let Loew go. If he wants to save his career, he needs to make changes. A guy his size and frame is not using all of the advantages he has at hand. Having no speed, defense, and fluidity is hurting Pavlik really bad. He already has power, he can double it with speed and box more instead of forcing for a ko. Like Bute has admitted in doing, it's Pavlik that needs to vehemently watch those Tommy Hearns fights religiously so he can be the destroyer he was or even better. He's always fighting flat footed too. Doesnt cut off the ring, no feinting, combination punching, and the list goes on and on. Sure everybody knew Sergio was going to be a tough fight, but Sergio at this point is a tough fight for anyone not just because he's a southpaw, but because he's really that good. Kelly really needs to let Loew go.

You can always tell the fanboys b/c when they see their fighter get his ass kicked, they always reason their guy could have won if he just "let his hands go" - so in your head your fighter is superman and CAN let his hands go like that, nevermind the reasons that he *didn't*

You remind me of Zab's dad in the corner: "Zab! pah! pah! bah! bah! let em hans go! pah!! pah!! Bah Pah!!!!!!!" Then what does Zab do? He continues to get his ass kicked, of course. His dad simply can't see that his son just sucks ass.

very frustrating fight if you were rooting for pavlik. i feel for you man. i was thoroughly entertained because i'm a big fan of both guys and they both had their moments, martinez just had many, many more of them. watching as a pavlik fan was ridiculously frustrating while watching as a martinez fan was really fun. very conflicting and up and down (emotionally) fight for me.

stoked for martinez though. he really deserved that win after those last two bull**** decisions. he put on a great show as always and i can't wait for him to rematch williams and get his revenge.

Thank god I'm not the only one who does that. Usually I just say "Screw it, I'm not typing all that again. It'll never be as completely ingenious as it was the first time." But I don't mean it when I say that.

I gotta agree with this. Booradly is being hypocritical. If he had real moral standards he'd just come clean and say "Yeah, I overated Pavlik I admit it he isn't as good as I thought he was but nevermind because I am a fan and will remain so" No shame in this; people have been wrong since the dawn of time.

Instead we get "Wah wah wah, this, that, excuse excuse" then he blows his lid on anyone who questions him or brings up prior statements he made.

Between the two of them Booradly & Hermit have been blindly hanging onto Pavlik like some freaky stalker but anyone who is a real boxing historical fan knows the difference between an achieving fighter and a great fighter. I am surprised these guys didn't but it goes to show you a post count doesn't = knowledge.

Credit where credit is due though Hermit admitted Martinez did a wonderful job and was far less heavy with the excuses. Taking your hat off to the better fighter is a commendable attribute. No fighter is unbeatable. None.
