You're right, but did you read the latest issue of the Ring? The guy has something to prove. I think he goes into the ring trying to kill people. He especially takes it out on people that talk ****, and Bernard talked a whole lot. He didn't even give Pavlik credit for beating Taylor. Aside from which, Pavlik won't need to gain much if any weight considering the fight is taking place at 170 and that's how much Pavlik usually weighs anyway. His power isn't going anywhere and he'll have the speed of a guy in a lower weight class. It's a good fight for recognition if he dominates Bernard. It's setting up opportunity for LOTS and LOTS of cash. I don't think that's what it's about though for Pavlik, from what I read, he seems humble.
Are you ****ing ******ed? Pavlik has a very strong resume already at the age of 26. Until he proves himself? Holy ****...
Pavlik is going to have his way with Bernard Ruiz. But this fight should have never been made. Boring.
Bernard didn't give Pavlik credit for beating Taylor. It was during one of the press conferences that Bernard gave before he fought Calzaghe. I saw it, and if I was Pavlik, I would be extremelly upset at that comment because it was incredibly disrespectful. Also, in the latest issue of the Ring, Pavlik made it clear that he still feels like the underdog and that people aren't giving him credit, saying that he's one dimensional and overrated. It appears to really urk him because he spent a great deal of the article talking about that, and especially how he feels that people underrate white fighters, (even giving respect to Calzaghe), and considering Bernard's comments, I think Pavlik really wants to hurt him. Now, as you know and as you witnessed, Bernard doesn't have the legs that he used to have, and considering that Freddy Roach is even concerned that Bernard will take a beating, NAZ even made a comment that the one thing Bernard never got was a severe beating, (seemingly alluding to the beating that Bernard may subject himself to), it looks bleak for Hopkins. I think you're going to see Jail House Hopkins fight in this one because Kelly is gonna bring the dog out of him. The thing is, a 43 year old Hopkins can't ever be underestimated, but he ain't outbang Kelly Pavlik, not at this age, maybe not ever. And to me, as I previously stated, I don't think he has the legs to outbox him, especially when Pavlik has murder on his mind. That's just my opinion though, take it or leave it, but it gave me the impression that Hopkins isn't going to lose a close decision which is what I thought it would be before, but that Hopkins will get KOed. Either way, I think someone is getting knocked out in this fight.
i agree, and pavlik will always come in for blood regardless....i dont doubt he'll make 160 again, but with a lot of money and fame, who knows "HOW" he'll make the weight.....as it is, kelly aint got much to work with but a solid 1,2 and a lot of power.....now imagine a kelly who is just in training camp to lose weight :deal :deal :deal his solid one dimension will get watered down and who knows how he'll fight........
The way I see it, Pavlick is going to fight his normal game which Hopkins will know inside out. Hopkins really does his homework and will expect everything that comes his way. To me, the Lockett fight holds a lot of clues for Hopkins. Just keep looking at the Pavlick jab in the following clip, especially that double jab that goes well over the top of Lockett's head (26-27 secs is a good example): [YT]DG3jO_hBtJc[/YT] I just think that Hopkins is the perfect guy to land his right hand at range right on Pavlick's exposed chin. He sometimes leaves the jab lingering around his opponents head. I really think (and you can quote me on this after the fight) that Pavlick will get knocked down in this fight by a counter right hand
Fair enough but I honestly don't think Hopkins will have to work as hard in this fight as he did against Calzaghe.
B Hop has already said what he's gonna do.he acknolewdged Kelly's jab but said his work is how to take the jab from Kelly.Once the jab is gone what will kelly be left with?
A win over Hopkins immediately sets up a fight with Calzaghe, I dont think Kelly will fight at middleweight again.
Pavlik already fought at a higher weight before so those excuses don't mean anything, I just can't see him beating Hopkins to be honest but if he does then the Abraham fight should be wide open and I'm very confident Abraham will knock him out.
