Kelly Pavlik needs Paul "The Punisher" Williams

    There is considerable irony in this situation. PWilly is Pavlik's best option, but Pav is Paul's absolute worst option. The folks at HBO are not real bright when it comes to running thier boxing program, and they have always treated KP like the proverbial red headed step child. They probably want this so KP can make Williams look good. Sort of like how they picked Kelly to make Miranda look good:yep

    If they are now trying to make PW their favored son, I got a newsflash! He's gonna get beat up way worse than Miranda did.

    Nope. This would be an Arum wet dream. When Pavlik wouldn't do the Mora fight, he went to the smaller venue and it wasn't a sell out. Watching film not sure it was even half a house.

    I told y'all all!

    Pavlik-Williams would fall on October 3, a date previously reserved by HBO for a Williams/Arreola doubleheader. If the two sides for Pavlik-Williams are unable to reach an agreement, Williams will probably return on that date, on HBO, against WBO 154-pound champion Sergei Dzinziruk [or an alternative]. Dzinziruk is now being co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions. Prior to the negotiations with Williams, Pavlik was already on schedule to return on October 3 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. If the Williams fight is a no-go, and an alternative network date is not secured, Pavlik's next fight would be showcased on a Top Rank pay-per-view card.

    And Booradly you keep saying Pav has a 3-fight HBO deal. I don't believe he does. Do you have a link?

    I only read your title of this thread, but do you want Pavlik to retire?
    The guy has personal problems and isn't in the greatest mental shape.

    Let the guy first beat a few sub-top fighters before taking on one of the best. You want an all or nothing scenario. :nono:bart

    His HBO deal is a part of his contract in resigning with Top Rank. That is why HBO put out the list of approved fighters they would want. Until PW came into the picture.

    What??? that doesn't even make sense.

    So Cotto who just resigned his promotion deal got a 3 fight deal from HBO also. And if he is an HBO fighter why would he be fighting on A independent PPV?

    another thing HBO has to approve any opponant, even if it's just a one time date.

    I would not lend to much weight to that article Ring Master quoted. It's by Rick Reeno. In his previous article Reeno seemed to be completely out of the loop and unaware of the pre-approved list of opponents.

    Jsimps has as good of a 'source' as you can get. Follow his posts and you will figure it out. :good

    Also, the contract with HBO is probably as good as the contract Mora has to fight Pavlik.

    Just go to Vindy.Com and look at May/June articles under "Pavlik News and Notes." You'll find it. Unless of course you're not actually interested in learning the facts.
