:rofl :rofl Next we will see people posting articles from the Daily Sport (or whatever its called now)
Sergio chickened from his match-up with Taylor in Memphis. Pavlik with a higher KO percentage is even more intimidating. Sturm is currently ducking Randy Griffin. ( who tied him in a mandatory match-up ) He's refused to face Aurthur Abraham. It could take YEARS to force his way as Sturm's mandatory. Short of taking their families hostage how do can we get Sergio or Sturm step in the ring with Pavlik? Authur Abraham is pretty much the only credible opponent left who has expressed any interest in facing Pavlik. ( and that assumes he doesn't lose his nerve after rematching Miranda ) And once Pavlik has faced him? On the flip side of the argument Pavlik is willing to fight for less money than RJJ (who has assigned a significant value to his own legacy) and is probably even willing to fight in Wales. (which I doubt that RJJ is)
Come on!, RJJ instead of Pavlik?, that's ridiculous. It's not like RJJ has proven anything lately either.
I concede some of your points as I am not a huge Mayweather fan by any stretch of the imagination, but JC reluctantly fought Lacy (you may not know this but he tried to pull out of the Lacy fight and his dad told him he would be ruined if he did so). The Kessler fight was a big money fight. I did give him credit for finally fighting a worthy challenger. Fighting Hopkins was a supposedly safe fight that was just about the money. A 43 year old Hopkins, come on! Most JC fans were saying how he was gonna knock out Hopkins or it would be a blow out UD. I called it a close decision giving Calzaghe the edge because of how much judges love punch output vs. accuracy. I think JC fans are now scared to death after the Hopkins fight that their hero would get wiped out by Pavlik. Let us all be honest, JC has been protected, his opponents have been hand-picked, and he is all about the money, legacy is a distant second, but he and his fans want to make him out to be some great warrior that takes on all comers. He and his handlers are smart. They have exposed him to the least amount of risk, and he is getting the most financial benefit from it.
And maybe take out the 'NEVER' in capitals... Like many things it's an arguable point. Hatton was number one at 140 having beaten Tszyu, and Mayweather did fight him. He fought the linear champion and the previous champion at 147, aside from that he had only 2 fights at the weight, his first at the weight against Mitchell and the aforementioned Hatton fight. Really the only fighter at either weight who I definately would have liked to see him take on that he didn't would have been Cotto.
Sounds like a bit of bull to me, not because Pavlik doesnt need to prove himself - which he doesnt but because Calzaghe doesnt have time to wait for Pavlik to prove himself. Sounds like Warren chatting **** again. RJJ is a money fight, but an easy one. Calzaghe - Pavlik is the fight we want.
:boohoo Reluctant or not to fight Lacy, JC nonetheless took him to school. Moreover it's not by chance that he beat the "worthy" Kessler. A 43 y/o Hopkins with a bag full of tricks is still a bigger shoe size than some of the punks out there. Beating Hopkins is somewhat an achievement by any standards. In view of the above, there's no reasonable reason for JC to duck anyone, let alone Pavlik. Not to disparage Pavlik but JC would beat him at this point. Problems caused by JC's style (lack thereof) would overwhelm one-track minded Pavlik's abilities to find solutions. Disclaimer: yeah yeah, intangibles...
Here is a question to you: Would you like to see JC fight RJJ or Pavlik next. Please explain choice. Also, the reasonable reason to duck Pavlik is getting KTFO in front of 50,000 of your fans and ending your career on your back.
