Frank Warren has cooled talk of a showdown between Joe Calzaghe
    This content is protected
and Kelly Pavlik, claiming the middleweight king must prove himself first.
Despite being at ringside to see Pavlik destroy his man Gary Lockett inside three rounds in Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, Warren is not convinced the American is in the same class as Calzaghe.
Warren has been speaking to Pavlik's promoter Bob Arum about a possible £10million showdown at super - middleweight between the undefeated champions, but claims talk of an October 18 fight in America is premature.
Roy Jones Junior says he's prepared to fight Calzaghe in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium at light-heavyweight in what could be his last fight and Warren claims the Welshman will decide his next opponent.

"It's Joe's decision, first of all," said Warren. "There are a couple of good opponents out there for Joe, but at the end of the day, Joe is the man - not Jones or Pavlik.
"A fight with Pavlik would have to be made at supermiddleweight.
But it remains to be seen how good Pavlik can be. I want to see what happenswhensomeone puts pressure on him."
Calzaghe has said he would prefer to fight Jones.
He feels beating the American could be the perfect ending to his glittering career.

A fight with Roid Jones is the better money fight, by far.

Pavlik should clean out the middleweight division and forget about Calzaghe.

Pavlik should fight Williams next though, that's a fight I want to see.

Of course RJJ is better fight for Calzahge. Less of a threat. He knows he cant beat a force like Kelly Pavlik. If he ends his career not fighting one of the best in the division and take a fight with an old legend who in his prime would woop the sheeet out of him thats just pathetic

Pavlik is a great guy but Calzaghe would beat him. Calzaghe is after money now and Jones brings that. Remeber Calzaghe wasn't making much until Lacy came along and still half of his take home goes to his ex-wife.

Pavlik should fight Kessler first if he wants to move up to super middle. That would be a great fight.

Williams is two divisions lower and would get massacured.

The fight with Jones is not the bigger money fight.

Pavlik should try to cement his legacy against a legend instead of trying to secure a phoney legacy by fighting bums for ten years.

Frank warren is the ultimate pain in the ass promoter pulling his USUAL promotional BS as leverage in negoitiation.

There's no question that Lockett being the opponent from Wales and the entire show was geared at building Calzaghe vs Pavlik. Warren's not sure?:huh Yeah, he's having some second thoughts about long and how many right hands Pavlik lands before the 0 goes:good

RJJ? OLder, easier, and the main other option.

I think Pavlik's as ready as he'll ever be right now. Does he beat Calzaghe though? I don't think so.

I think Pavlik has proved well and truly enough to be a Calzaghe opponent (he hasn't exactly been knocking all the top dogs off for the last 10 years so its a bit disrespectful to Pavlik).

IMO if Calzaghe waits another full year or so for Pav to get another 2 or so decent fights under his belt he will probably have a far higher chance of losing the fight.

Pavlik could pick Kessler up and throw his chicken ass out of the ring.

Kessler ran like a ***** when slappy put the pressure on and Kessler admitted that slappy wasn't a great puncher.

And we all know Kessler wet his pants just thinking about fighting Miranda.

Pavlik is naturally stronger than Kessler and Pavlik WANTS to rumble while Kessler runs like a timid ***** when the heat gets turned up.

**** Kessler and **** you for even daring to compare that gutless eurofag with a badass like Kelly Pavlik.

Pavlik can move up to 168 and dominate the division any time he chooses to, and there ain't a ****in' thing the calzombies and kessler's queens can do about it. Take that to the ****ing bank:deal
