Doesn't crack like Kofi Jantuah. Quite frankly Rubio actually did better than he should have and that was do to Pavliks lack of brains to go to the body. That fight could have been over quickly but Pavlik once again shows he's not a complete all around fighter. Pavlik showed no signs of progression coming off the Hopkins loss. Williams, Wright, and Abraham can kick his ass IMO.
So you mean to tell me when Rubio was laying on the ropes with Pavlik T-ING off on him he was mixing up his attack when he had him hurt? Your're a f****n **** and need glasses.
Actually bro...He landed many clean shots in the solar plexis in the center of the ring and on the ropes... He looked a lot more developed than before...But at the same token I think you're correct in saying that Rubio did much better than he was supposed to...I think he was about two rounds too late for that KO...and it wasn't really a KO either...just a quit on the stool from loss of hope :verysad
I enjoyed the fight. Pavlik showed a few things and I still think it'll be tough for anyone to beat him at 160.
I thought the fight was a little flat at times but that may be down to Rubio. Pavlik could have mixed it up a bit more but he's not that type of fighter. He did go to the body and tried a few uppercuts, but a lot of the time he was hitting arms and gloves. He got the win, which is the main thing and looked decent enough.
I'm not saying Pavlik didn't go to the body at all, I'm trying to say Rubio blocked quite a few of Kelly's shots because he knew where Kelly was going. His didn't go to the body to make Rubio defend low then go upstairs. Like you said Rubio quit because of a loss of hope. Pavlik should have sent a message to the 160lb division that said hey I'm back. Instead it was a performance that was just ok and looked pretty much like the same fighter.
The thread starter is correct. Name one single thing that Pavlik improved.????????/ The world is waiting. There is no footwork............there is no movement..........more importantly no lateral movement. This is a plodding straight forward, straight backward Antonio Margarito type fighter. Thus far there have been two instances within 6 months where plodding flat footed fighters were systematically broken down by superior technicians , fluent in the science of " boxing" PAVLIK WAS ONE OF THEM. I defy you to define one area in which Pavlik has improved.
What the **** were you hoping to see? Pavlik turn into Sugar Ray Leonard? Of course he's the same fighter but with minor improvements. Pavlik can't really show improvement till he faces another slick fighter with lateral movement. Then we can only see what Pavlik has learned from his loss.
I'm a good looking m*th*rf**k*r. I'm not affraid to show my face anywhere. And I think my post makes perfect sense.
I'd like to know how many of the guys on this thread watched the ppv on high definition, and how many watched on some shitty internet stream. Clearly we did not all see the same fight. Pavlik fought a very controled, tactically smart fight. He controled damn near every minute of every round, and so totally dominated Rubio that the man was crying in his corner. The only round that was even competetive was the 6th, a round where KP stood in front of Rubio and let him tee off on him with a ****ing smile on his face. If Pavlik would have come in and blasted Rubio out in 3 rounds, many of you would no doubt say "same old Kelly, hasn't learned a ****ing thing." Instead he toyed with Rubio for 8 rounds, and you guys come up with "same old Kelly, hasn't learned a ****ing thing.".
With minor improvements huh?:think Tell me since you've seemed to spot them. What were those improvements?
