Bute is STILL the biggest payday for KP at SMW........A fight with Edwin pretty much puts him right in there for Bute or Froch, whoever wins.

About KP needing dance partners....why fight tough fights like with Rodriguez, Stevenson, or even George when he can fight the Gomez's, Rosinkys and Jacos of the division.:-(

Most consider Rodriguez a sideways move from Rosinky given the way the Rosinsky/Rodriquez fight played out. Kelly may be right in that this guy will show up and do his best to be boring which gains him nothing. Training is the biggest factor. You have to train as hard regardless. It is up to him and his team to chart the career path.

Kelly still has, some great fights left in him. Imo he shouldn't be wasting anymore time with tune-ups, and I feel that's what Rodriguez would be at this point.

Basically I don't think he should be wasting anymore time with B level fighters like Rosinsky or E-Rod. However, if they did fight Edwin might have a few moments in the first 2-3 rounds, but ultimately Pavlik catches him and puts his lights out around the 5th-6th rounds.

If the Ward fight cannot be made, Pavlik should take this fight to stay busy in December.

I think Pavlik is still above this guys level, but it could make for a good fight anyways.

Good fight but I think Pavlik still has enough to beat Rodriguez. Pavlik isn't the same fighter he was in 2007 but I'm not convinced he's shot either.

I'd like to see this fight but I don't think Pavlik takes it. All he has to do is stay busy againt easier competiton and he'll get a fight with Bute, Ward, Froch etc.

I agree with you, Kelly is only 30 he is far from used up. As long as he can keep his drinking problem under control, I believe he still has several big fights left in him.

I want to see Pavlik in a bigger fight. I hope Chavez Jr. moves up to Super. I'd love to see those two go at it.

When he sobers up it probably kills him to think of the millions he has lost due to his drinking.

Or it kills him to hear his wife screaming about it 24/7.

I think Rodriguez would win. Pavlik was a serious middleweight when he could still make that weight. He isn't a serious super middleweight, at least not top ten.

Rodriquez/Rosinsky was a 50/50 fight. Stylistically Rodriquez is nowhere near the challenge Rosinsky was. During Pavlik/Rosinsky, somewhere in the middle rounds, Garcia got on Pav about not throwing enough punches. KP responded, "Well, he's a slick, fast fighter and that's causin' a problem."

    I'll make 2 points on KP's comment:

1: Edwin is niether slick nor fast, and I'm certain Pavlik knows that. Before the fight he described Will as a very good fighter. He called Rodriquez "horrible."

2: When I heard KP's calm, quiet response to Garcia I looked at my brother inlaw and said "Damn! I'm starting to believe Pavlik is really back!" He said, "Yep!"
