By the way guys, Top Rank, Team Pavlik, and diBella have a history of working really well together. I think this fight is far more likely than a Ward fight.

DiBella says Rodriguez is willing to travel to Germany and face Abraham on Dec 14. I think thats a more winnable fight for Rodriguez but I'm skeptical that one happens.

Pavlik has a huge advantage here...EXPERIENCE ! And Pavlik is still young and even though he had a few bumps in the road, i see no reason why he would have any true trouble with Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is a tough and talented up and coming fighter, and would push Pavlik, and make him work hard. But I see Pavlik winning by a late round stoppage or a UD.

Bomba was slightly easy to hit by that 13 fight nobody

he gets caught with dumb shots and doesnt have the short of power to cause an immediate problem

    i think Pavlik punishes him

Stylistically, I think the two play right into each others hands. Rodriguez moves a little more than Kelly, but won't move so much that Kelly can't find him. Kelly will likely take quite a few shots early, but Rodriguez can't put him down.

Overall, I see a pretty good action fight. Rodriguez throws more, Kelly lands harder. UD Pavlik unless there is a late stoppage.

Yeah Pavlik is legendary..."I'd beat Ward! I'd KO Bute! Froch is a bum!!".......then he fights Johnny no-name.

Can't defend this tool anymore. No excuse he's like a German fighter.

Your original statement, the one I responded too was completely wrong. Your follow up is the usual misdirection. Pavlik called out NONE of those fighters. Rosinksy and Sigmon called him out. TR made the fights because he has a new trainer. Not Rodriquez is calling him out and you blame Kelly for that? For saying he wouldn't refuse the fight if the money is right? :rofl

You don't consider Rodriguez a good opponent? I think most would consider him a good prospect on the verge of being a contender.

Rodriguez isn't the toughest option out there for Pavlik but I think he's a solid challenge and would give Pavlik a tough fight.

Think Pavlik vs Ward is the fight to make. Think this Edwon fight might be a stay busy and be seen on hbo again. Use it to build up Pavlik Ward

There is no evidence this fight is even likely.

Pavlik needs to get 2007 08 out of his head this is a good step up for him on his comeback trail

If I had to take a guess I bet we'd see Ward-Pavlik next...

However, in regards to a possible Pavlik-Rodriguez matchup, it's really, really difficult for me to pick a winner. I honesty haven't seen either guys fights against Rosinsky, but I believe from the sounds of it Pavlik had an easier go with Rosinsky than Rodriguez did.

I think this would be a great litmus test to see where Pavlik is. I always wondered what it would be like if Pavlik faced the upper echelons of the SMW (even though I don't consider Rodriguez upper echelon its a step in the right direction). Part of my wondering was because at MW Pavlik had borderline cartoonish advantages. He had huge height and reach advantages against most MWs and had big power at the weight and solid fundamental boxing skills, so most MWs were going to have a big problem with him. However, at SMW, all the elite guys there are all 6 feet and above..and they're big, eliminating a few noticable advantages Pavlik had at middleweight.

The obvious main problem I would have about picking the fight in this matchup is that I simply don't think much of either guys competition at SMW. I guess if I had to pick one, I'd lean towards Pavlik, but I still think this would be a dangerous fight on his comeback trail (maybe perhaps only dangerous because we don't really have an idea of where either guy is)
