all top fighters are in a lose lose situation when they fight. Hearns was, Leonard was. all of them. That is normal for fighters. If Pavlik is any good he will beat Martinez and knock him out easily as he should. If he loses then that means maybe he is not that good.

I didn't either. I don't think this is all that dangerous of a fight for kelly really. But, i'll still watch this fight because it is very interesting and will
have a good entertainment value. I'm really looking forward to this weekend.

Bingo, my point exactly. So far at the top level (and in divisions LOWER than Pavliks) Martinez has proven that he is a good game loser. By that I mean he does enough to make the fight competetive and look good but not enough to win. As such, he is a calculated risk for the Pavlik people.

HBO, Bruce Trampler, and Cameron Dunkin know exactly what they are doing. That's not a knock on Kelly. It's just the reality of this particular situation. Bute comes out and looks good knocking out a former Pavlik victim, and perhaps takes him out a bit quicker than KP did. Pavlik comes out and looks good against a "slick" southpaw, and eveybody is on the road to one more BIG pay day.

Dead on again. Its boxing promotion, I understand that, but the problem is HBO gets so carried away, involved, and invested in these guys that they end up basically carrying their careers with careful, precise matchmaking calculated to bring the highest reward with the least risk. Now fans who dont know any better will say "thats the point" I say no it isnt. This is about athletic COMPETITION matching the best against the best. Not the best beatable opponent against the house fighter so his fans can feel good that their guy won. Its why Roy Jones and Hopkins didnt fight until 17 fricken years later, and so on. It really makes a mockery of the sport. Thats my rant. Out.

You going to AC? I wish I could go. They have a bus leaving here Friday morning at 4 AM so they can make weigh ins. For two people, if you get the cheap seats, it clocks in at $200 each. Not bad really.

Yup. Dumb fight to take. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

A case of one-upmanship against Williams gone badly wrong.

If he hadn't have fought Martinez, he would have been crucified on here.

He put his balls on the table and came up short. Jesus, no matter what the guy does it seems he can't get a break around here!

know he should not have taken the fight at all, and his handlers should have know better as well.keep pavlik away from those type of fighters for the rest of his career.if they are at the prime elite level and can box its a wrap for him.

Martinez beat the crap out of Williams' without time to even train for that fight! Martinez had time to train for Pavlik. I knew Martinez could outbox Pavlik, but Pavlik could have landed a big punch and ended it also. Rematch will be interesting.

I just hope he changes his trainer and work on his flaws and take on Martinez again.
