Martinez lost to Williams fair and square. Martinez had been training for another fight when he got the call to fight Williams.
Agreed. I scored it closely for Martinez, but it was very close. Cintron was a robbery though. He Knocked the guy out. Then he outpointed him. And it was still ruled a draw.
God this is too much now. I really feel sorry for the guy that he lost his unbeaten rec once and now a MW Championship... But now he should have not fought in a lose lose situation and should have not given a 154 pounder a shot?! How come he should have stepped up to 168 pounds in order to look well. Man, I really think about Taylor now... Jermain gave two or three 154 pounders a chance, took the winner of Miranda and Pavlik, lost twice to Pavlik and still went up to 168 pounds to be knocked out twice and we are sorry for Kelly?
And Cintron should have been disqualified because of his corner jumping into the ring. That fight was ridiculous. I'm glad that Martinez finally had one go his way.
Well, they also thought fighting a 49 year old former MW champion at LHW, who lost two times to the guy Pavlik beat for the title a good decsion to take the fight. Talk about a lose, lose situation. You win, you beat an old man past his best weight, who already lost to Taylor twice. You lose you look like a joke.
Yup. It was a classic trilogy that we'll be talking about for years to come. Martinez wins by KO. Martinez wins by DQ. And, lastly, a controversial draw. Not even TBA can squeeze that many memorable fights into a single evening! The part that shocks me the most, every time I watch it, is the referee taking the judges' scorecards, dropping them during the DQ, then picking them up & handing the scorecards back in one pile. Florida really does need a United Nations watchdog for their elections.
