I am a fan of both fighters. Pavlik just so happens to be a "Miranda-type" fighters worst nightmare. Power, stamina, good chin, and is always coming forward = a horrible night for Miranda. I don't think anyone on this board is calling Pavlik the best thing since sliced bread, so calm down. He does, however, deserve his respect as he has pretty much knocked out everyone in his path on the way to being undisputed middleweight champion.

miranda is much more overrated than kelly. miranda just talk too much. talking **** about his urgency in fighting Taylor but KTFO in his fight.

enough with those bull**** excuses miranda just cant backup his words in the ring.

yeah he looks good with his KOs with average fighters but who hell cares? and whats the point? still kelly will ko him if they meet again.

No excuses. You and I went back and forth on another site talking ****. At NO TIME did you talk about Miranda killing himself to make weight blah, blah, blah. In fact, pavlik don't exactly make weight easily either.

Pavlik is much more skilled than Miranda, no slower, power is similiar, and chins are probably pretty equal. In the end pavlik is able to walk Miranda down, make him uncomforable and beat his ass. That is the story of the 2 fighters.

You see Zertuch and Zuniga's 2 fights? They are basically equal and both decisions were controversial. McKart wasn't much when Pavlik beat him but he was still the first guy to stop all of the above.

Pantera -- when you mention ratings of fighters Kelly beat your looking at ratings AFTER Pavlik ****ing ruined them. Pavlik's last 6 opponents had a total of 163 fights with 116 knockouts. 4 had never been stopped, 1 was the undefeated and universally recognized world middleweight champion, one was a 2 time world titlist and went on after the Pavlik fight to win the NABF title, 1 had the NABF title until Kelly ripped it away from him. One was a guy so ****ing tough you could rip his arms off and he'd fight ya with his ****ing teeth! THEY ALL GOT PAVLIKATED in 9 rounds OR LESS! The last guy to actually go the distance with Kelly lost an 8 round UD, and never fought again!

    NUFF SAID,

before Pavlik beat Miranda's ass you had said similiar stuff with Miranda (in regards to Hopkins). So considering Pavlik destroyed Miranda what's the big deal? people like you told me Pavlik would lose because he hadn't fought the kind of competition that miranda had. It's not the first time you was wrong and it won't be the last I am sure. :good

He is everyones worst nightmare...Only someone who is a master at what Kelly does(offensive pressure) or a Master slickster has a CHANCE.. and only a chance..and theirs nobody out there right now at 160 or 168 and yes that means Calzaghe too.. Calzaghe is awkward but so is a fighter like Darchinyan...easily vulnerable...Joe is hardly a master at either brawling or boxing..he's just awkward and feather fisted..Pavlik would beat him down while clowning and sticking his tounge out:lol:

Slappy Joe is one of the more over-rated and over-hyped fighters around these days. He'd make 10 or 11 rounds against Pavlik; something no one else has done! It pisses me off that he called Kelly out after the Taylor fight, and then ran down to the nursing home to pick a fight with BHop!:bbb

When I saw this thread, I wanted to speak up for Kelly Pavlik, because he is anything but overrated and has potential to enjoy a truly great career. But to call Joe overrated and a slapper is just plain ignorant. The guy has not lost in his sport in 17 years, beat some really good fighters in Eubank, Reid, Kessler, gave one of the most brutal beatings to an undefeated beltholder ever in Lacy, never had a truly disappointing performance (how many figters in history can claim that?) has beaten every possible style. Kelly Pavlik is a very effctive, mentally and physically tough fighter, but he has yet t prove that he is better then Kessler, they are both good, solid jab - 1-2 boxers with excellent power and stamina. In Kessler's case, that wasn't enough to beat Joe.

It's important to remember pavlik was a few proper punches away from being seriously KTFO'ed by taylor, in which case we wouldn't even be discussing Pavlik right now.

I guess that this thread title is just another out-and-out declaration of war against Pavlik's supporters rather than an enlightening argument for conversation. Any sudden wash of cold reasoning would bring the thread starter to his senses and to displeasing embarrassment as there is no rational basis to rate KP differently from where he is supposed to be - the top position at 160 pounds - he is undefeated at 32-0 with 91% of kayo ratio (29 - twenty one inside three rounds), he knocked out all members of his list of best-level opponents - Jose Luis Zertuche (KO 8 ), Bronco McKart (KO 6), Fulgencio Zuniga (KO 9) and in his two last outings - a WBC eliminator as the WBC nº1 contender against the former WBC nº2 contender - a 7th round TKO over Edison Miranda who went twelve with IBF Champ AA in his only loss up until then, and another 7th round TKO over previously undefeated JT for the WBC and WBO middleweight titles... Otherwise, where should he be ranked? Anywhere below number one would be succintly ludicrous - he is not overrated in the true sense of that word.
