It's interesting all that is made off Pavlik as an old-school trainer (there's plenty in that), here he is training with weights, still a somewhat contriversial subject amongst fight fans and trainers. Targetting the triceps in this session.

This just some old sparring footage. Working very hard at in-fighting, but it's not the savage sparring you might imagine. Kelly is a pretty modern trainer in many ways.

Just to make sure, not to be misunderstood: Kelly Pavlik would kick my ass all over the place. But those weights are light, I think I could go on for 15+ minutes lifting those weights up on every single exercise. It almost looks like he is training for aerobic endurence and not for strength. Have to agree his lifting form is less than spectacular.

That's probably the intention. Keeping the elbows locked would focus more on the triceps, but what he's actually doing look more like pullovers, which work the skeletal muscles of the chest, rib cage, and diaphragm and is mainly used by endurance athletes to build lung capacity (thus improving stamina), which would also explain the light weight. Oddly enough, I've heard they were also one of Bruce Lee's favorite movements, too. No kidding.

Cue "The more you know" music.

I like Pavlik but nothing looks too impressive to me. Perhaps that's his secret.
