True, power will only get fighters so far. But Pavlik doesn't just rely on power; he employs intelligent strategies, keeps up a high workrate, works behind the jab, and places his punches nicely.

To be fair his jab looked nice in the Taylor scrap....but lets not forget he was put on his butt so he needs to work on defence if anything....then he would be pretty darn formidable

    Agreed

His defense is his biggest flaw. I'd like to see more head movement since he tends to stand very upright with his head as a stationary target.

Plus he should defintiely go straight up to 168 win lose or draw against Taylor....there are so many showcase fights up there in Super Middle.....I for one would love to see Kessler vs Pavlik.....I honestly don't know who hits harder and both are stand up straight line fighters with speed and power

Yeah.....but can he defend his title enough times to be called a great fighter, or will he be remembered as a huge punching MW that was champ for a year or two?

I'd take Kessler over Pavlik by knockout. Pavlik probably hits harder, but he lacks the timing, speed, and accuracy of Kessler. I see Pavlik getting controlled at a distance with the jab and getting hit with clean, precise right hands.

Calzaghe would beat him too. Like he did against Kessler, Joe would take away Pavlik's jab and right hand. He'd get him from the outside and he could get the better of him on the inside. Too much skill, speed, and angles for Kelly to overcome.

Personally, despite the lack of huge fights at 160, I'd like to see him stay there and try to establish a legacy. Abraham, Sturm, Wright, Duddy, Mora, and Lee would all be good fights for him. I don't think he's ready for the best at 168.

The trouble with fighting Sturm or Abraham is the fact that if Pavlik's promoters are outbid on the purse by German promoters then he might have to fight over in Europe and unless he was to KO them then there is always that chance of a bad decision

    Damn...Taylors in for another beatdown.....
Jack Leow made an interesting point of how well Kelly Pavlik is in Taylors head
Taylor going back to the trainer that gave him all the bad habits.....I have a feeling Taylor is about to contract Lacy's disease

    Fighting Euro-Bums. Kessler not included.

I don't wanna argue. Joe C & Kelly will probably never meet. But until if & when they do, after its over, one of us will be saying "I told you so".

Taylor is better than Lacy though to be fair......Joe Calzaghe exposed Lacy but Pavlik didn't expose Taylor so much as he just simply knocked him out lol.....but that is definitely a key factor in this fight cos the first fight will be stuck in Jermain's head for sure
