Only 3 times in his career, how is that an ass load of times. And he got up and brutalized all three

Yep, but we always have the "styles" cop out.

Pavlik beat Taylor twice. One by KO. Taylor beat a younger Hopkins twice. I know, I know. NO RELAVANCE AT ALL.

    Precisely. Absolutely none.

Joe Frazier was brutalised by Foreman, and Ali defeated George soundly. This 4 years after Frazier beat Ali.

Duran was starched By Hearns, but put up a good fight against Hagler, the same man who destroyed Hearns.

Benitez thoroughly outboxed Duran, but was soundly stopped by Leonard, who was in turn defeated by Duran.

You see my point. Styles make fights is not a kop out. It's a proven fact throughout the history of boxing, and to justify Pavlik beating Hopkins by bringing up his win against Taylor doesn't mean anything. It's just speculation.

I can see how the younger Pavlik could outwork Hopkins, but I also feel there is a chance that Hopkins spoils Pavlik's work all night, and out hussels him. We've seen it so many times before.

I think you read what you wanted to read.

I said "Pavlik has been on his ass a number of times".

You just confirmed it. Three times. :huh

    Maybe....

Seriously, as I pointed out. At 175, Kelly would hardly be close to the biggest puncher he has faced (even recently)...and he SURE AS HELL aint the best boxer. I fail to see HOW Pavlik could even keep this close...

I wouldnt even give him workrate, as he just isnt that good of a "boxer" and once Bernard starts showing him angles he has never faced or using his movement to keep Kelly off balance all night, he gonna be lost out there.

This is THE WORST possible fight for a fighter of Pavlik's skillset. You guys picking him gotta be ****in kidding right???

    :huh

How many times is it valid though? I would guess way more times than not. :yep There will always be exceptions, but we need to use the evidence we have.

Like 34-0, 30KO? Middle weight champ. And, if he fights till he is 30 at the rate he is going now he will have what? 15 more fights? That's more than Joe will retire with at 37 and he will probably have faced better competition. He has a much earlier start on that.

This is his only his 2nd defnse ..

Face better comp well lets hope so ..As it stands right now he has still somethig to prove Calzaghe has already proven it ..

You wanted to know what impresses people. That is
    a)what he has done and
b)what he may be capable of doing.

If people thought he was finished now, well there wouldn't be much of an impression, but unlike some posters here, some believe he is just hitting his stride.

I'm Hopkins fan but he's old, I mean really old and past it. He did great against Calzaghe and I thought he won but he shouldn't go around fighting these young guns. Pavlik UD12 Hopkins.
