Boo, relax, have a beer, understand that people will have different opinions to yourself. Why do you jump on every post saying that Martinez will win, it's just a prediction, no one can say for sure what will happen.

Isn't that part of the argument for Pavlik winning this fight? :huh

He might be ordinary above 160lbs, but Martinez might be ordinary against a big 160lb'er and the fight is at 160lbs.

    Yes true.

I think the only way Pavlik can win this fight is to impose his power and size. Will Martinez cope with Pavliks power? I think so as Kelly is pretty flat footed.

But, and it may be a big but, i think Martinez's speed and awkwardness plus his sharp punching will have Kelly flustered and keep him honest for 12 rounds.

I may be wrong but whilst Pavlik is a good champion at 160 he isnt anything special, imo.

I can certainly envisage that scenario but 12 rounds is a long time to play a fight out in that manner. There is usually a shift in the pattern of a fight like that by mid to late rounds when everything is slowed. And Martinez does slow, he slowed against Williams. Steady pressure from Pavlik early will ensure that. Then it becomes a question of whether Martinez can take the punches and if he can hold on to whatever lead he built up. It's interesting thats for sure.

    Good to see you Iceland!

Another key factor is that no matter how much people claim Martinez is "a slick fighter" the fact remains that he is not all that hard to hit. Consider this: Williams landed about 24% over all against Margarito, but he landed 33% against Martinez. In one particular round PW connected 41%! Now I'm not trying to claim that statistics should end the debate, but they do provide empirical evidence that Sergio is not hard to find. A guy who is notoriously sloppy found him 33% of the time.

I think a lot of posters get caught up in some pretty superficial stuff. For example, Martinez has quick hands and feet, but he has almost zero fundametals. He has plenty of flaws, and makes a ton of mistakes. It's pretty easy to see that he makes the kind of mistakes that should allow Pav to tag him hard and fairly often. That's not good news if you're Sergio Martinez.

I think Pavlik will get his punches landed later in the fight. Martinez is a great 6 round fighter but his defence is not exactly fundamentally sound. It's not a defence that stands up to scrutiny when he tires, he's all reflex based, and unfortunately for him he does tire quite a bit more than he'd want with that style. That's why I'm saying Pavlik late.
