James Toney would ****ing MOLEST Kelly Pavlik monday through saturday and twice on sunday!!!

This wouldn't even be a competitive fight!!! wow Toney would be 1 fighter that Pavlik could not **** with. Iron chin + slick moves + ridiculously nice subtle counter punches vs a stand straight up 1+2 puncher = the biggest ass wuping since Calzaghe/Lacy

I think Toney would UD him.

    Bad matchup for Pav.

I made this thread because people don't seem to understand the vulnerability of Pavlik's chin. Nunn had quite a decent chin and Toney starched him nasty, Nunn was also a well schooled fighter and general athlete.

Pavlik's slow, has a mediocre defence and relies on his workrate and length, here it would mean nothing as Toney is an excellent counter puncher and Pavlik provides little movement and no angles, he's a walking target for that powerful right hand.

I personally think he'd be KTFO in 1 round. If Jermain Taylor almost got you in the 2nd, someone with poor timing and very average power, then what is a top class elite like James going to do?

Hmmm...didn't see your poll. Whichever round the KO comes depends really, I'd say rounds maybe 8-9. Give Pavlik his props he's a tough guy, but Toney eats guys up with that style and was a big puncher at the lower weights.

Actually I think it would be a good fight but of course Toney takes it.

I reckon it could go down like Jirov-Toney. Pavlik throwing everything he has at him, taking a few rounds and making him work all night but inevitably getting countered all night long in brutal fashion.

Right, he was a BIG puncher at 160-168 and this guy Pavlik nearly got taken out by Jermain Taylor and has been stunned by other lesser punchers.

James would land at will on this guy from the get go. How does it last 8 rounds?

Does anybody really think this guy can take a true top class punch from a top class fighter that actually can deliver the shot with speed+accuracy?

    I don't.

Ottke wore loaded gloves and Mundine only had 10 fights at that time compared to Ottkes' 10+ championship fights at the time. Pavlik is the finished product.

He ate some massive shots from Zertuche and Miranda, he seems to recouperate within a Tito like timeframe.

No doubt Toney hits him more often with better timed shots but I never saw James as a consistently good finisher throughout his career. I dont think he would see the need to go for KO against Pavlik like in the Nunn fight because I reckon he would be on top from the start.

I never had that much faith in Pavlik Ive got to say and he has proved me wrong everytime, so thats why I think he would do better than what your saying.

Yes, I see your point. Pavlik is a tough guy, he got KD and hurt but he got back up. Pavlik would last until the latter rounds imo.

Toney would seriously give Pavlik brain damage. The amount of counter right hands and left hooks what would land would be ridiculous to see. Pavlik would get hit by so many FLUSH counter shots that Pavlik would end up in a stretcher.

    Fair enough.:good

But do realise that the level of speed and timing with James as compared to Pavlik's current competition while citing that Zertuche hit him with some good shots isn't a positive by any means, coupled with James' very good punching power.

Bute would last until the later rounds however, still gets stopped, but lasts none the less because he actually has a good chin.

Pavlik's chin is a big vulnerability.
