I think it would've looked similar to Froch-Abraham. Give me Pavlik-Froch, for maximum violence.

It's a shame Pavlik and Taylor didn't face Abraham or Sturm when they were champs.

    Yup.

An unfocused, one-foot-in-retirement Pavlik won 4-5 rounds from a prime Martinez, yet he's somehow not competitive against a less refined slugger who didn't mind mixing-it-up.

    ESB logic at his finest.

AA was scarcely hard to find, and I'd argue that Pavlik had comparable (if not superior) one punch power and was as good if not better at finishing.

I think Abraham hits harder, although Pav could definitely crack. The main reason I lean toward AA is simply because I think he’s more durable.

If Pav keeps him at range he beats him up, it’s just that 12 rounds is a long time to go with a guy like Abraham.

I dont get where the “Pav isnt competitive with him” thing is coming from. I’m basically saying AA gets beat up but gets to Pavlik eventually for the stoppage.

The question of who hits harder for one shot is certainly up for debate, but I think Pavlik was a better combination puncher with more offensive versatility.

Pavlik's jab is why I feel quite comfortable picking him over AA.

AA would find himself on the end of a stiff, range-finding jab that would allow Pavlik to control distance and create opportunities to deliver (and put torque) on his booming right hand.

    Pavlik UD or KO 10-12..

That turtle crap won't work on Pavlik.

Too much length with those long jeans and straights, and Pav went to the body too.

It would look something, physically, like the Lockett fight, although AA would last longer than the Welshman.

And why hasn't anyone brought up the Pantera fight...
AA could barely eek out a victory over the limited Miranda, whom Pavlik dispatched of fairly easily.

I lean towards Pavlik but Abraham was a very strong, defensively sound middleweight that capitalized on over aggressive opponents. What I like about Abraham was he fought too his strength. He was a slow guy but was very adept at catching with his high guard and ripping hooks on the counter. Both guys were very durable but I think Pavlik was more versatile and after tasting Abraham's power, would use his length and jab to win on points.

Pavlik would have beaten Abraham up pretty badly. His jab and right cross would be busting AA in the face all night, and overall Pavlik's workrate and stamina was just too much for the spurt fighting, low activity AA.

I'd give Abraham somewhat of a puncher's chance, but Pavlik's chin was solid enough to survive the occasional Abraham bomb.

Pavlik either by wide UD, or possibly even a late stoppage.

Agreed, would have firmed up everybody's idea on both men.

I think Kelly gets off the canvas a time or two and either guts out a decision (basically winning every round he doesn't go down, a`la the JMM vs. Pac draw) or even becomes the first to kayo Abe, whether it's at middle in their primes in the latter half of the aughts or at 168 early in the following decade.

The more I think of AA and look at his record, the more I consider him Euro level.

He barely beat a limited Miranda and pulled out a last minute KO vs a washed Taylor

The fight with Miranda should have been a red flag but ironically raised his stock. Funny thing is, everyone's takeaway from him boxing with his jaw hanging practically halfway off was that oh he's such a warrior...but if you actually watch between rounds he's crying to his corner asking to stop; they wouldn't let him quit.
