Kelly Pavlik Vs Carl Froch: Arum - "Could Happen As Early As Next Jan"

Some things we know for sure- Pavlik will not gas like Taylor, Pavlik will not Panic like Taylor, and Pavlik will stick to his game better than Taylor. Froch doesn't have the movement or technical know how to take Pavlik out of his rhythm a la hopkins

The guy has an enormous will to win. However, Kelly ain't exactly a sissy. The big difference I see between the two is sound fundamentals. One has them, the other lacks them. Put two punchers with huge hearts in the ring, and the guy with the better skills will win. Froch would have huge problems with Kelly's jab, his long left hook, his right cross, his over hand right, his straight right, and his work rate. Froch's tenacity is admirable, but tenacity ain't enough when the guy comin' at ya will not stop, run out of steam, or take a step back.

 

On the way up KP fought everywhere from 154 to 170. Ya want my honest of opinion of why he settled at 160? Because Dunkin and Leow knew he could beat Taylor. Kessler and Calzaghe were the top dogs at 168, and JT looked easier for Kelly to beat. That's my honest opinion.

 

And that is exactly why Kelly will not win this fight. Hes not a counter puncher or a lateral mover, hes a come forward brawler with skill. Why would he come directly at a naturally bigger puncher and expect to have success? There is no way i see him walking Froch down.

 

175 - 185 when he's not training.

Or he lets his walk around weight go up a bit more between fights? I think he will go from 175 to 180 between fights if he moves up. Won't go the full 8 to 183 so he will be able to cut easier.
