I mean in regards to the topic as a whole. Do you yourself believe that David Lopez has a chance of beating Pavlik?

A number of people whose knowledge of David Lopez starts and stops with Box Rec will post on this thread. They will look at his 11 losses and dismiss him out of hand.

David Lopez is a natural middleweight who has fought everywhere from 150-185. Several of his losses came at or above the LHW limit. He has been very poorly managed. He has a long history of taking fights on very short notice, and he has fought many times at weights that were all wrong for him.

I agree with Vincent that Lopez is a better fighter than Rubio or Ornales. David has not lost a fight since he lost a 12th round TKO to Zuniga in January 2005. In October 2005 Zuniga gave Pavlik one of his toughest fights.

If you want a good idea of where Lopez stands right now, think back to the Daniel Jacobs/Micheal Walker fight. Walker gave Jacobs all he could stand, and at the time I thought if Walker had a decent jab, he would have beat Jacobs. David Lopez is the man who took Walker's zero by unanimous decision 98-92 across the board.

Lopez is currently ranked #6 at 160 by Ring Magazine. He's a legit contender who deserves his shot. He's worked long and hard for it, and I hope he gets his day in the sun. Pavlik would stop him, but this is a much better fight than most people realize.

He has nothing scheduled that I know of. He hasn't fought since April. I was hoping he'd get right back in te ring, but nothing yet.

Lopez is a gatekeeper, one of those Jesse James Leija type fighters who you have to go through if you want to make a mark in the division, and he'll turn a few guys away at the door on his way, but at the end he's not a contender, and shouldn't be in the position to get a shot ahead of likes of Golovkin or the winner of Pirog/Macklin.

    Leija was better.

He was even past his prime a contender and held belts in 2 divisions I believe.

lopez is better than his record suggests but pavlik is just better. and i dont think pavlik is that incredible.

lopez is gate keeper. a good solid gatekeeper. tommy v's leija is a great choice. can beat the best but anyone who is champion level usually wins

While I agree that Gennady Golovkin, Dmitry Pirog and Mathew Macklin should be ahead in terms of getting a shot Pavlik David Lopez is a top ten contender and would give Pavlik a good fight.:nono
By the way a good fight for Golovkin would be Lopez both are handled by Golden Boy here in USA. As I think Golovkin needs top ten contender or two under his belt before taking on Pavlik. Lopez , Omelas and Rubio then a shot at Kelly for Gennady:good
