Oct. 7th, 2005. Somewhere in Vegas. Pavlik fought Zuniga for the NABF Midwt. Title. I just saw the fight for the first time & this thing was candidate for Fight of the Decade! I could not believe my eyes. You think KP puts pressure on people? Zuniga never stopped throwing or coming forward, was tough as nails, but Kelly managed to absord his offense & produce enough of his own to counter it with tremendous power shots. Zuniga drops KP in round 1 with a beautiful left hook which apparently is his favorite punch. This fight was simply incredible how they just keep trading. And now that we all know Pavlik is the real deal, looking back on this fight increases its value. Zuniga gave Kelly hell for 9 rounds, a future World Champion. No wonder guys like Taylor & other top Midwt's wanted nothing to do with Fulgencio. I recieved a link from a ESB member (that will remain anonymous) that got it from a boxing "bittorrent" site. The fight has no highlight vid's on Youtube & I've publicly asked is a prior thread for someone to find it, & he was the only one to come through. If anyone else can find this link to UL so anyone interested in seeing it can do so, thats what we're here for. And if your here as a boxing fan on ESB, I highly reccommend that you see this fight, I can't emphasize this enough. If that member would like to step foward to share the wealth of this fight with others here, that would be awesome. Or, if someone else who is computer savy can get this link to post here, this fight will be talked about for a long time. Please respond to the poll to determine exactly how few of us here have never seen this one. UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE!:cheers
haven't seen, but i've heard much about it on other boards. been trying to find a link for it last month, but just forgot about it.
Pavlik KO's fighters that dont get KO'd. That is a sign of a true puncher. Pavlik has fought some very tough, rugged , durable oppponents and have knocked them out. Zertuche and Zuniga have brick heads. Pavlik has real power, he didnt build his KO record fighting glass chined chumps, that have been knocked numerous times like Sam Peter did. Come on , Jeremy Williams, Julius Long, Yanqui Diaz, Gil Marteniez. Every fighter coming up for Peter had a weak chin and was a set up for a KO! Zuniga had never been stopped. Zertuche had never been stopped. Mckart never been stopped. Miranda never been stopped. Taylor never been stopped.
When you have the time, tell us what you remember most significantly about this great action fight that I can't believe somehow didn't get all over the internet. :!:
Tell me about it. Its out there. Somebodies just got to find it, UL it & everyone can DL & enjoy. Its a big .avi file, 650,000 kb. Took about 4 hrs to DL. I have it on CD. Sellin' copies for $10.
Pavlik is a bad ass.. That is all I have to add. He is a fighter by nature. Power is unbelievable as well.
Excellent analysis & what you said about Zuniga's left hook in R1 is absolutely accurate. The slow motion replay really shows KP's jaw getting pushed deep into his neck. But he bounced right up & fought on well. A true testiment to his ability to take a great shot & recover quickly. What a fight! Look what I found. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=4874&more=1
Thats beautiful, El Rey. I wish I had know about KP further back into his climb. I believe my first KP fight was Beupierre or something like that. Another guy that was never down or out, which was the fate he met against Kelly. This Zuniga fight is something special, though.
I may have some good news. Talked with my son today & gave him the CD of this fight to load on his computer. He told me when he gets a chance, he'll UL it on his website & you guys can DL it from there. So stay tuned. I'll prob make a new thread to announce that this awesome fight is now available to DL for anyone interested. If your a real boxing fan, you won't be disappointed. :!:
