Kelly Pavlik vs Gennady Golovkin who wins?

Shame they both peaked at different times. Seems so weird Pavlik is the younger guy and the two of them were top middlesweights in same-ish era but never came close to fighting. I remember back in 2008 I thought Pavlik would be a long reigning champ like Golovkin is now.

 

Really? You don’t think Kelly had the mentality? I disagree. Kelly was always cool under fire and had good recuperative powers. Look at his fight with Miranda and his knockdown by Taylor in their first fight. Kelly was tough and I think he’d give GGG a good fight but would ultimately lose in a war of attrition.

 

I agree. After Kelly stopped Miranda and then Taylor it seemed like he could dominate for some time to come. But this is also why guys like Hagler, Hopkins and GGG deserve as much credit as they get - it’s tough to have longevity in this sport. To always make weight, always be in fighting shape, always turning away the challengers (even the lesser ones) is really impressive.
