Kelly Pavlik vs James Kirkland who wins?

You'd have to take Kelly Pavlik at this point. Kirkland is a prototypical swarmer, while Pavlik is your prototypical puncher. So not only does Pavlik have a style advantage, but he is the much bigger man and packs a huge punch. This is a terrible matchup that's not getting made anytime soon. Pavlik by stoppage.

 

Kirkland applies pressure in absurd quantities, but does so by coming right in the front door.

You can NOT come in Pavlik's front door.

 

Kirkland is still green and is a 154lb fighter..I'd favor Kelly by KO at this point..down the road when Kirkland is more experienced this would be a good fight if Kirkland is as good as most of us think he is!

 

When two fighters depending on backing up the opponent collide, the one with the physical advantage wins most of the time, which is Pavlik. He'd back Kirkland up like James did vs. Julio, and would take out the heat like Kirkland or Hopkins vs. the Ghost.

In fact, he's the Pavlik of the LMW division: so stronger than the competition, and forcing his game on them. But an excellent counterpuncher is the antidote here to teach him a boxing lesson, or feed him to a bigger version of himself to lose by knockout.

 

Kirkland has no headmovement, comes straight in, squares up too much, and doesn't throw a jab.

Pavlik is much taller, rangier, and throws hard straight punches and can catch Kirkland who's pretty slow and methodical with uppercuts.

I think this is an easy fight to call at this point. Perhaps in the future if Kirkland decides to move his head and get low, he could win, but right now no way.

 

Pffft, at this point Pavlik would annihilate poor Kirkland.

 

Pavlik by pretty bad KO. Probably like Zertuche. He comes straight up the middle, Pavlik throws punches right down the middle. Nap time for Kirkland, very quickly.

Kirkland is slow?

 

Kirkland's an exciting fighter, but I don't like his chances moving up to fight a bigger fighter who loves nothing more than to fight come forward guys who square up.

I realize you're from Texas, and I'm from Texas too. ****, I love Texas and I think some of the hardest, but most humble people off the block come from Texas.

Texas has a shitload of tallent and it's a beautiful place to live.

But yes, Kirkland is slow compared to some of his 154 counterparts.
