    Oh wait.... I forget something-

Chin: equal. Pavlik chin is actually quite decent - Hes been down what thrice? well not much really barring that he likes to use it as sometimes his only defense. Kessler has never displayed a weak chin - never really been tested though, we know he can be hurt by a blow to the body - we dont know to what extent - everybody can be hurt by a templeshot.

What is that thing with jab versus counter. Yes Calzaghe won by going on the outside, why? Because Kessler doesnt have a good jab?

    Speed - tactics.

Now about Pavliks handspeed you were kidding right?
If Pavlik was faster than Kessler he would by staying on the outside perhaps (assuming that Kessler learnt nothing from the Calzaghe fight, and that Pavlik was technically better than he actually is) would be able to outpoint Kessler in a similar way. The only problem is:

Bias or not, Pavlik does not have better handspeed than Kessler!!

    It's more than that.

A counterpuncher relies on you giving up some distance and throwing punches so he can sneak in his own work. A counter over the right hand for example. A left hook counter over the lead uppercut for example. A counter uppercut under the lead left hook for example.

It's all about DISTANCE. A counterpuncher by nature gives up the fundamental first punch. And so everything he does works off of being second.

By keeping distance on your side and keeping him on the end of your jab you eliminate his various options of counterpunching. You leave him with one or two options. And then you seal the deal by keeping those options under wraps. Maintain the jab, keep distance and avoid the counter right. Game over.

Pavlik has not been in with anyone that hits, or can take a hit like Kessler.

Taylor was faster. Pavlik somehow survived that.

At this stage, and with chicken Joe choosing an easy payday against Jones as his swansong, his legacy depends on Kessler.

That Kessler win was big, but what Kessler achieves in the future will really define Calzaghe's career. I can't see Lacy getting back on track to be honest, Hopkins....probably wont fight again, but him going out with a decent name on his resume like Johnson or something makes that win more significant.

It really depends on how much Kessler can achieve. If he could carve out a multi weight resume, beating shall we say... Pavlik, Dawson, Johnson, Bute....then most certainly Calzaghe's legacy is secure.

Taylor is also more predictable, hittable, leakier defence, has poise issue's and is smaller with less punching power.

The skill difference between Taylor and Kessler is very wide.

Calzaghe was losing against Kessler when he tried to swarm him; only when he started to pick up his defence and fight a more technical fight, relying on his superior speed, was Calzaghe able to beat Mikkel. Can Kelly adapt in the same way? Can he out-box Kessler? Can he get in the kitchen of Kessler's counter-shots, where even Calzaghe (who is bigger, more skilled and has a better chin than Kelly) couldn't handle the heat?

I doubt it. Kessler would probably win by UD; I don't think he'd KO/TKO Kelly because, despite the fact he has a girl's name, Kelly is tough as nails and is dangerous enough to make Mikkel fight a tactical fight. It'd be a real-barnbuster, though, and not at all as entirely one-sided as Kessler-Andrade was. I'd expect Kessler to beat Kelly by a 8-4, 9-3 type decision.

I should have known you'd make this point before me. Then again, as anyone who has seen Hamlet knows, the Danes like to be guarded by Switzers.
