You miss me here, I mean Kessler and Pavlik are both boxer-punchers it probably wouldnt be the kinda fight you describe here, at least not to begin with. In the beginning the would both try to get their jab-punch jab-punch-punch style going.

Now my thesis here is that due to handspeed, precision and timing - Kessler will win this fight in the fight.

Now the part of the fight that you describe can begin. With one big difference, that it wont be a secure Pavlik working soundly behind his dominating jab. It will be a hurt one taking chances trying to KO Kessler.

He will get hit a lot, to win the fight he will need to do it fast stunning Kessler, as I said inside the first four, that is his biggest chance.

It is because I see the fight turning out like this that I said that Pavlik will need a lucky punch if it goes beyond the first round.

Pavlik will in the run be hitten way to much to be able to accumulate effectively like he usually does - no disrespect.

Pavlik doesn't seem to feel punches. He said he was hit ONCE in this fight with Lockett when he got lazy.

this would be such an awesome, entruiging fight, could be an epic. would have to side with Kess though, based mainly on Kellys only SMW fight against Taylor, but its boxing and anything can happen!

    Your point being?
I promise that I will never use Kessler - Sartiwho as an argument displaying, well anything at all about Kesslers ability in any possible elite matchup.

Yeah it is funny is it not. Kessler is ducking Miranda but is not afraid of Pavlik.

    Hmm.

Maybe just maybe Kessler is not afraid of Miranda and never really ducked him.

If Kessler wins saturday he should be p4p nr 2.

The only reason he wont be nr 1, is, that Pavlik has that spot since his last fight.
You just cant push Pavlik away from the nr 1 p4p spot after his last fight where he looked so much faster than his opponent

    Seriously.

Don't let the Miranda fight fool you. Pavlik does not go looking for knockouts. He usually lets them happen. IF he does hurt Kessler he will jump on him but otherwise I highly doubt he walks into Kessler's work. He will stay behind the jab all night if need be.

Nothing lucky about what Pavlik does. 30 knockouts in 34 victories comes from having patience as well as dependable consistent power. Kessler is no James Toney either. He's there to be hit with the right hand. Maybe he makes a sloppy windmill puncher like Andrade miss but not a straight sharp puncher like Pavlik. Won't happen.

And if this comes down to Pavlik's punch versus Kessler's punch I'll go with Pavlik.

This is really good thread in the most - good arguments from both sides.

IF they do get in the ring - one thing you can be sure of is that Calzaghe will be rooting for Kessler!

I really dont know who wins this fight. Reading the thread I'd edge towards Kessler, but I think Pavlik is one of those fighters who is better than he looks. By that I mean in the fights against Taylor, I thought Taylor looked good, like the better fighter, but Pavlik still got the two wins.

Either way - bring it on :happy

Power and determintion is not enough.

Kessler matches Pavlik in these two aspects of the game, by the way.

And he is ahead of him in so many other aspects.

Taylor is also incapable of taking ten steps and not ending up in a corner. Kessler, on the other hand, has the footwork to match his handspeed.

It makes sense that a motherland should have a girl's name. It does not make sense for a tough-ass warrior-style courageous boxer to have a girl's name. Pavlik should have a name like "George" "William" "Alexander" "Robert" or "Genghis".

That still doesn't keep him on his feet, though.
