After just watching the video of Margarito TKO'ing Martinez, starting to think Team Pavlik is only taking this fight to make Paul Williams look bad, like "here's how you get a real win over Martinez."

Martinez moves great, but Pavlik is taller and heavier and certainly heavier-handed. If glancing blows from Paul Williams can put Martinez down, what can a solid right hand from Pavlik do? Margo TKO'd Martinez at 148 lbs.

The point i was makin was about punching power and the fact that many Pavlik feel KP has incredible power!

I'll admit PW ain't a power puncher but when your throwing 100 punches a round through a fight then eventually you will get worn the f**k out and get dropped!

Pavlik Fan said it a few days ago. Listen to Pavlik fan when it comes to stuff like this. Doesn't mean it will happen, but it is at least as good a source as any thing you will see on any boxing site.

The Zertuche KO is under rated. I compare that to a scene that is popular in movies where some one swings their sword at the candle and nothing appears to happen at first. Turns out the cut was so clean the top of the candle hadn't fallen off...... yet. The Zertuche KO was just that clean. All the power of the shot went into jarring the chin. Yeah it is dramatic to see the guy fly through the ropes, but.....

IMO I feel when KP fought Miranda and Taylor(first fight) neither of those guys really respected KP and took the fight lightly!!

For example if you remember the press conferance wear Miranda was screaming at Taylor saying "you should be fighting me" instead of Spinks!
Right then I knew Miranda thought he would blow through KP(thats what made me want KP to KO Miranda and I turned into a fan). We all know Taylor didn't take KP seriously and you see what happend! In the second fight Taylor paced himself a little better but was a little shook of KP's power so he was already at a disadvantage yet he performed way better!

Now that KP has some respect I think if he ever defends his title against a A-level fighter:tong they will take him very seriously and bring their A game!!

The reason that this fight is being currently negotiated is that paul Williams doesn't want to have anything to do with anyone at 154, especially Sergio Martinez...that fight isn't going to be made anytime soon...also, It's obvious that Sturm doesn't want to have anything to do with Kelly Pavlik...also, considering how convoluted everything became between Goosen and Arum, i don't think pavlik/Williams will be made anytime soon.

you make some good points. but since paul and kelly were so close to fighting (well maybe not so close as it turns out) and hbo has in the past made an offer for pav/sturm (albiet a lowball offer), i'd just like to know w/o any room for debate that williams and sturm want nothing to do with him. until i know that, this talk of pav/martinez seems to me to be more about leveraging goosen in pav/williams negotiations...(went into that in a previous post on here).

well, peterson sounds a lot like steward did prior to taylor I. saying all they have to do is step in and check pav's china chin....

who knows though, may have been just been blowing smoke to build the fight up.

but i agree w/ ya cuz. pav aint sneaking up on anyone anymore. everyone knows what he does well and doesnt do well. but i do think that what he does well at mw is being horribly underrated b/c of what hopkins did to him.

That's what i feel!! Any A level boxer who KP face will definitely know that KP is a good fighter so they will be well prepared mentally more than physically! Not taking anything from those wins cause KP was the better man but from now on KP is gonna have to step up to the plate!

I think it is safe to assume Williams won't be ready by the April date. Those cuts need time. No sense rushing him for this fight. He earned his rest.

I'll second that! I get mad when i'm in a heated debate with these "Pavlik jockeys"(I like starting trouble) and he enters as the voice of reasoning with excellent points and discussion!
