Kelly Pavlik vs Sergio Martinez in the works!

Horrible fight for Pavlik. What is Arum doing with this guy? It's just one career misstep after another, after two wins over Taylor that should have made him one of the most marketable fighters in the sport. Kelly should have looked elsewhere for his promotional needs instead of reupping with Top Rank. No wonder he's seeing a shrink.

couldn't agree more...on paper a junior middle champion moving up looks like a good idea but like the mora fight it'll be ugly, do nothing to enhance his standing and it's STILL not a viable MIDDLEWEIGHT challenger. Top Rank is ****ing terrible

 

Great point. He's the middleweight champion of the world and he's not even fighting middleweights. And don't tell me there aren't any. Hagler didn't fight a guy the level of Arthur Abraham every time out. Pavlik should be fighting every three months against middleweights in the hopes of cementing a legacy in the middleweight division.

 

Not to mention Pavlik has an exciting style and a huge fan base. I can't say enough about how the people around him are ruining his career. From Hopkins to Lockett to Mora, now this. It's pretty simple, fight the best middleweights out there.

yes. i would rather see him swallow his pride and take less money to fight sturm (b/c the current offer is insulting)

 

pavliks an exciting fighter.but he is fighting nobodies to gain some sort of legacy,similair to what terry norris did...why doesnt pavlik move to the tougher supermiddle division and prove what he has got...

 

that would do MUCH more for his career and his financial situation in the long run...when he beats sturm he'll have beaten to new established #2 in the division, reignited his career and opens himself up to bigger paydays than the moras and martinezs of the world

 

unless something can be lined up w/ bute (which would be a war!!) what can he do at smw now w/ this tourney going on?? he's in a tough spot for sure and it seems that arum isnt making his life any easier. i'm sure after all is said and done it will be a sturm top rank ppv fight since hbo is offering ****

 

couldnt agree more jorodz...just consider it an investment that will pay off down the road.

 

the bute fight would be great but pavlik just isn't a super middle. he needs to be patient, dominate his division and what for the challenges to come to him

 

yeah and when you think about it...as bad as the mw division is right now, a sturm fight isnt a terrible thing. sturm would get beat imo but he isnt a joke.

 

it seems to me pavlik dont want the supermiddle weight division,same as terry norris didnt want the middleweight division when he was in his prime.seems pavlik just wants easy defences in a now weak middleweight division since aa has moved up...bout time pavlik grew some balls again,that loss to hopkins has certainly took something away from pavlik.
