Pavlik better hope that Martinez tires. Pavlik's people are being reckless by taking the fight. Martinez by decision.

My opinion only, but I think he takes control of the fight around the midway point and the fight is stopped late by ref or corner due to the the constant clean shots Pavlik takes in the later rounds.

Martinez is not known as a huge puncher but boxrec fight fans who look at KO percentage as a power gauge must have been shocked by the amount of times Paul Williams was rocked in their fight.

Martinez has been robbed his last two fights and it's time for a big win and the respect he deserves.

Pavlik would knock out Williams in under four rounds.

Pavlik/Martinez is a thoroughly different matter.

According to Hauser's article on "seconds out" Hopkins weighed 184 pounds on fight night. He blasted Pavlik damn near at will for 12 rounds, and couldn't even keep him on the back foot, let alone stop him.

Pavlik ate Miranda's right hands like they were ****ing Skittles.

Zuniga knocked out about a dozen guys with the same left hook he knocked KP down with. KP was up at the count of 2-3, and proceeded to turn Zuniga's face into something you'd expect to see in a Fright Night movie.

Taylor hit Pavlik with 15 or so flush shots, 2-3 elbows, and a couple head butts. Pavlik was up at the count or 2-3, and came back out in the very next round and handed JT his ass.

I can understand why Pavlik haters, and those who simply haven't followed his career, might pick Martinez by close decision, but the assertion that Sergio will stop KP is just plain silly.

I said 5 rounds all along. Since the Martinez fight I don't think PW would see the end of the 3rd. Paul Williams is a welterweight. It's just too bad he can't get decent fights in his own division.

    Hopefully we will see.

KP is a tough dude, no doubt, but with the rumblings about extra-curricular activities outside of the ring and questionable fight selection (Rubio and Espino over PW) lead me to believe that Martinez has the momentium, despite a L and a D in his last two fights. He's putting his balls out there and fighting big fights and doing better than anyone expected.

Rumours of "extra-curicular acitivities" were at least 95% bull****, and that has been repeatedly proven.

The real problem with picking Martinez over Pavlik is historical, and stylistic. Martinez is a good sized guy at 154, but stop and compare him with recent top middleweights. Compared to Hopkins, Taylor, Miranda, Pavlik, and Abraham, Sergio makes a very small middleweight. History says Pavlik eats small middleweights.

Stylistically Martinez has serveral bad habits that play right into Pavlik's style. Sergio does not keep his hands up. He does not have the power to get KP's respect. He does not have the physical strength to keep KP from mauling him on the inside, nor does he have the stamina to endure 12 rounds of Pavlik's pressure.

It is not an accident that Pavlik's opponents tend to end up on the ropes and out of gas. At some point KP would trap Sergio on the ropes and put his lights out.

I'd rather see Pavlik/Sturm, and a Williams/Martinez rematch at 154. Let these guys fight in their own divisions.

I fancy Pavlik destroying Sturm but not Martinez.

Sturm can give Pav a good fight for 6-7 rounds, and then it's ovaaaaah!

If you find me a guy with Miranda's size, strength, and power, along with Sergio's skill and style, Kelly gets his ass kicked. There is no guy like that at 160 right now.
