Kelly Pavlik Vs Mikkell Kesser This would be a very interesting fight. Basically I think of these two fighters as being very similar but Kessler I believe is the more athletic and quicker fighter. He has more wrinkles to his game as well and can change up his punches from power punches to fast scoring punches when he has to and he can counter punch when he has to as well. I think he'd likely win a close UD o a wide UD in a well contested fight. Kelly Pavlik Vs Jermain Taylor 3 This ones pretty obvious...Kelly Kelly Pavlik Vs Andre Dirrell Dirrell is the biggest wild card in the tournament. His talent is undeniable and his descision to go it his own way and run his career on his own terms tells me there is a self belief and determination in this fighter that is required to be a champion and take on the best fighters. That being said he is soo green its not even funny and if he's not the truth is going to be a lng two years for him. If he is the truth his natural bxing IQ and ability should be able to mke up for what experience has not given him. If Motzart was composing at four...Dirrel can smack th **** out of kelly after only 18 fights. Kelly Pavlik Vs Andre Ward So long as kelly defensively stay tight and doesn't lose focus i see him winning this fight eaily. I don't like wad against a good strong fighter that works behnd a stiff one two. Kelly Pavlik Vs Carl Froch Carl Frch is a better boxer then Kelly. I see some bernard like qualities in the way he moves around the ring and in and out. Plus he's got the power to keep kellyhonest. I see klly getting beat up and maybe even knocked out. Kelly Pavlik Vs Arthur Abraham This one's a closer fight then the Froch fight. if AA has an off night then kelly could handle him easily. but AA has a great style to beat kelly. He waits for his opportunitties and makes the most of them. And Kell will give hm plenty. Probably AA by TKO.
pavlik would knock kessler silly. the only dude on here that i think matches up with pavlik well is ward
After the trainwreck that has become Pavlik's career post Hopkins, how can anyone still be this high on him?
Yeah - to boxing fans it seems that Kelly's carrer is in shambles. He is a broken fighter. Will he ever come back? And if he does will he even resemble the fighter that once was? He has only himself to blame. Instead of getting right back on the horse (e.i. taking on a risky and worthy opponent) he started talking about how the Super Six was far to risky and not enough money for such extreme risk and he could not make a deal with AA and so on. Everyone knows MW is weak so when he doesn't want to fight the best - we all know what is left. The Willimas fight is an ok other fight, but it came too late and now that it is off now, so his carreer will keep spiralling downwards. Even a Willimas win will probably not do a lot for Kelly at this point in time. People will need several big wins for Kelly to believe in him again. We will just have to wait and see what happens. :-tired
Ya -- 1 loss and a staph infection are going to derail a guy who has been fighting since he was 9 years old. You bet. I swear you get more idiotic by the minute.
It's more the rumors of alcohol problems and how utterly 1 dimensional and clueless he looked against B-Hop.
I can't help but notice that those of you who continue to make idiotic posts have not bothered to do a single shread of independent research. I also can not help but notice that when those of us who did our homework confront you with facts, you ignore the facts in favor of your moronic and uninformed opinions. One can sometimes fix ignorance with facts. You can't fix stupid.
Look, I have no problem with Kelly, I actively rooted for him against JT and I like the guy. But something seems amiss with him ever since last year. One fight against a chump and he's gone; and not only is he gone, the only time you hear about him now is something else going wrong with him.
Pavlik can probably beat Taylor (again). He's got his number. The other four could go either way. The ONLY one you can take to the bank is Kessler. He would destroy Pav, Doesn't go the distance.
To be honest Hermit and boo, whilst its great that you stick behind your guy even in tough times and are not like the rest of the bandwagoners on ESB who will dump their fighter after a loss and move onto the next big thing, I find it hard to defend Pavlik right. At the end of the day, not being in the super6 tournament was bad enough, but withdrawing from the Williams bought aswell. It doesnt look great for him, hand infection or not.
Ya, bull****. Every single question that the same imbeciles ask over and over has been answered in dozens of posts on dozens of threads. He's gone? I did not know it was against the rules to take time off when your wife has a child! This is exactly the kind of horse**** I'm talking about. If you had any interest in the truth, you'd already know why he took the summer off.
I'm sorry, I'm a bit more concerned with what's going on in my own life and own boxing than what's going on in Kelly Pavlik's personal life. Unlike you I don't sit outside his bedroom window with a pair of binoculars. So you'll excuse me if I haven't gone hunting for the "truth". What's the truth about Bob Arum being pissed with him missing doctor's appointments, then?
You don't think Pavlik's busy enough to beat AA? So the Armenian Ape that throws ten wild punches a round against hand-picked club fighters will "outwork" someone who's been in as deep as 100 punches a round against monster punchers? atsch
Boo - we all know that you are a glowing fan - and many of us who write in here now - like Kelly believe it or not. I for one was excited about him. Which is why we are concerned with him and his downfall. Sure, he may choose the time right after a devastating loss to "have a break with his wife". I mean why quit while you're ahead, right? The are a bunch of rumours, a lot of documented rants and sour grapes, cancellations, illness (stress and low self-esteem makes one more vulnerable to infections btw.) and so on. Sure, you may try to weave a story together that will explain some or most of it. Even fi we put all of that aside, the bottom line is though - Kelly is not fighting and you are only as good as your last fight. And to be honest for Kelly that was not very good. People's perception of Kelly is tanking by the minute and we - his more or less fans - are worried and want him to wake up and not skip three doctor's appointments because ... and so on. I hope he comes back strong and tries to regain some of his image - it will not be easy and it will takes several fights and if you do not think so then you are not a fan, but a dellusional fan. And we do Kelly no favors by being dellusional on his behalf.
Ok let's go through this again. Pavlik vs. Ward Being one of the up-and-comers in the tournament, it's never going to be easy to make an informed pick on Ward. He could pose problems for Pavlik: he has good head movement on the way in, and quick hands. He's very good at staying out of range and then jumping straight in and landing shots on the inside; as we saw against Hopkins, that's a strategy that could cause Pavlik trouble. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Pavlik struggled to land the jab and got ouboxed for most of the fight. Eventually, though, I think the opening will present itself, especially with Ward's tendency to stand in front rather than moving side-to-side; if KP hangs in there, I think he'll get the KO. Pavlik vs. Dirrell Again, Dirrell is an "unknown quantity" in this fight. From what I've seen, he seems to have a good ability to box and move and to fight going backwards, and quick enough hands to flurry and then get out. He doesn't seem to hover in the pocket. Because of this, I think Pavlik might struggle to catch him, and Dirrell might just hit-and-run his way to a decision. The problem is discipline. Can Dirrell hang in there for 12 intense rounds without making an error or overheating the engine? Can he avoid confrontation and not try anything too flashy? His inexperience on these counts might cost him the fight. Could go either way. Pavlik vs. Froch I have to agree with boo here; Pavlik is all wrong for Froch. Let's face it, Froch is not hard to hit: he stands in front, doesn't move his head, has - literally - no defence, has terrible hand positioning and has a wide, static stance. He's just too easy to hit, and Pavlik would land whatever he wanted when he wanted; and, unlike Taylor and Pascal, has the heavy artillery to bomb him out. Froch's chin is good, but it's not unassailable as JT showed. In contrast, Pavlik does have some semblance of a defence and a good chin; Froch won't be able to get to him in the same way. Pavlik by an early/mid KO, and it won't even be close. Pavlik vs. Abraham Anybody who's actually watched Abraham's fights will see that he is a very limited fighter. His work rate is poor, his punches are wild and he can't deal with fighters from range. If Pavlik stays focused and disciplined and boxes from range, he'll simply outwork AA to a decision. Some people see AA taking a KO here. Yes, he has power. But has he ever fought an elite, rangy opponent with a solid chin who doesn't give you the opportunity to swing bombs? Pavlik by UD. Pavlik vs. Kessler Kessler is a very versatile boxer, and will on that account give Pavlik trouble. He's probably the only one in the Six that can outjab Pavlik, but he's got good defence, speed and power, a solid chin and can box and move as well. He just has too much of everything! I can't see a stoppage here, as Pavlik is a tough cookie and Kessler, while strong, doesn't push too hard for a KO when he's comfortable picking people off (e.g. Andrade). Kessler UD. Pavlik vs. Taylor Do we really need to go there? Anyone who picks JT here MUST be a hater.
