Because his punches are wild and animalistic, but brutally powerful. And because of the alliteration.

    (It wasn't an insult.)

Whilst I agree that it's absurd for anyone to jump to conclusions of alcoholism and wife-beating, it's not unreasonable for the guy to be concerned. Pavlik's not only been taking time off; he's not been giving interviews, which is strange given the injury saga he's gone through and the long period of absence. Honestly, as a supporter of Pavlik, I am slightly worried that he'll come back rusty or without his head in the game.

Kelly Pavlik Vs Mikkell Kesser – Kessler by brutal late rounds KO
Kelly Pavlik Vs Jermain Taylor 3 – Pavlik again – he just has Jermain’s number
Kelly Pavlik Vs Andre Dirrell – Dirrell could get a points win here
Kelly Pavlik Vs Andre Ward – Ward – he’s one to watch for the future
Kelly Pavlik Vs Carl Froch – Froch. No doubt. But expect him to come from behind.
Kelly Pavlik Vs Arthur Abraham – Abraham, mid rounds KO that people talk about for years to come

    What? :huh

Taylor has gone downhill significantly of late, evident in both the Lacy fight and Froch fight.

Tell me this: if Froch got blasted early by Taylor, how d'you think he'll fare against a much more aggressive, much more powerful and simply superior fighter, who doesn't let you off the hook? If you're going to make ridiculous claims, at least give some analysis.

That is definitely one of the most stupid posts I've ever had the misfortune to read. The improved Taylor? The one that stopped punching after 8 rounds? The one that had Froch down like a sack of potatoes and couldn't finish him?

I disagree. Taylor and his own crew agrees with me. They believe the Froch fight was the best he has been - at least since the Hopkins fight. His stamina was good and he was not visually tired - he just got caught.

You seem to be forgetting that Taylor had Pavlik on ***** STREET in their 1st fight. No way would Froch have let him off the hook. Froch in that position would have smoked Pavs boots.

Pav would try to go to war with Froch and would lose.

His stamina was terrible and he looked lackluster just like the Lacy fight. Have to totally disagree here.

i agree with you that froch is a better finisher than taylor (which isnt really saying much since taylor is a **** poor finisher). froch probably would have handled pav differently than taylor did in that first fight.

    BUT

the combo that put pav in deep is something that froch could only dream of throwing. froch isnt anywhere near as fluid as taylor is. in order for froch to finish pav, he would have to get him in the same position taylor had him in. i just don't see this happening. not the way froch fights. don't get me wrong i like froch and don't believe pav is unbeatable...but lord froch seems to be tailor made for pav. froch begs to be hit with shots right down the pipe the way he sticks his chin out and leaves his hands low without any ability to move laterally.

i would love to see this fight. froch is a big smw and it wouldnt be hard at all for pav to find him. both have shown a willingness to take a beating as well. hopefully we can see this in the future.

Half a ship's complement of natural middles went the distance with Kelly Pavlik, but since they went into the ring all over weight on a padding job, they made that fights not a 160 event, and all of those were really, really beyond 160lb dry on weighin. One of them by a whooping ONE pound. Yeah, noone ever could make the distance, really. :tired

Lol. It would be a bit late to believe that Pav was unbeatable wouldn't it (not that there is any dishonour in losing to Bernard)!!. I think Taylor has at least as good a defence as Pav and Froch managed to find him, so it wouldn't necessarily take a genius combo to have the same affect. A Froch right over the top, hook or uppercut could potentially have Pav in a postition to be taken. As you rightly say though, Pav has a lot of power himself and good solid skills so this would definitely make for an interesting and exciting matchup. I think the weight the fight was fought at could be the deciding factor in this one.

exactly the same could be said in reverse. watch this.. no way would pavlik survive if froch had him in this possition. Pavlik is there to be hit just as much as froch. also when froch got kd he wasn't hurt. pavlik was all over the shop.
